I know stress makes you sick, but I'm not into meditation. How can I create calm? - Dr. Mark Hyman

I know stress makes you sick, but I’m not into meditation. How can I create calm?

YOU’RE RIGHT. In fact 95% of all illnesses are caused or worsened by stress. The key is learn how to actively relax. To engage the powerful forces of the mind on the body you must do something, you can’t just sit there watching television or drink a beer. If you’re not up for mediation try:

  • deep breathing
  • yoga
  • take a hot bath
  • make love
  • get a massage
  • watch a sunset
  • walk in the woods or on the beach.
  • exercise
  • spend time with friends

Give a few of these a try because the biggest predictors of longevity are eating breakfast and psychological resiliency, being able to roll with the punches life throws at us.

This is only the beginning. Read the full article on creating calm–part of the 7 Keys to UltraWellness series–here: The Mind/Body & Body/Mind Effect.
