My story:
I became very interested in nutrition a few years after high-school. I had a strong feeling that when I began taking care of my life, I had to take care of my nutrition too. I had many symptoms (stomach and intestines) but I didn’t get help from doctors, there were many.
I found an article about a man who had the same kind of problems with his stomach and a macrobiotic diet helped him. He gave advice as a macrobiotic nutritionist. I phoned him at once and traveled to meet him in another city. To travel to another city to learn chewing and a healthy diet sounds ceremonial? It was for me. It was kind of breakthrough in my life. The year was 1986.
For the first time in my life somebody taught me how to eat well and feel better. I had a great feeling that somebody really understood me and my health problems because of his earlier similar problems (and he didn’t get any help from doctors either.)
I learned my new macrobiotic diet: whole grain, fresh and steamed vegetables, fish, no meat, dairy very rarely, and very little sugar (only natural sugars.) It helped me a lot once I started to practice this diet. I also met many people and heard many stories about people who had amazing healing experiences from sickness to health and it made a big impression on me. I also learned how to do self-diagnosis and I had great reward with that. I practiced a macrobiotic diet five years.
Later I changed my diet a bit and nowadays I eat meat every week. I am so thankful for these years when I became interested in different kinds of alternative health therapies; Chinese medicine and a whole new way of thinking. I would call it: The green life.
I read lots and lots of books and I’m lucky that I have personally met many wise alternative health therapists from Finland and England. I did volunteer work in this branch and learned new things all the time.
Later I studied Reiki healing and Indian head massage. With Reiki I have had an amazing healing process and I have done it for my friends. After I did it for my friends, they didn’t have the illnesses which they had before my treating. And these illnesses haven´t come back years after. Reiki is one of the most simple, natural and powerful healing methods I know. Sometimes you have to be patient with it, because you don’t know beforehand how long it takes to get healthy. But I am patient. I strongly believe in energy healing.
Later I learned more about alternative medicine because I was so interested in it. I became member of the society of bio-medicine. I have had so many good experiences with supplements and especially with good supplements. My supplement bible is a book called Vitamin Revolution by Knut T. Flytlie, MD. I have had many great rewards with that book.
The knowledge of PH-balance is very important to me. And I’ve read a lot of these things too. A new healthy path begun when I started to do TM-meditation after my macrobiotic diet period. Sometimes I have had pauses with it, but it has been good to see the difference between the periods when you meditate and when you don’t. And there is a big difference. Shortly: every part of your life is much better, if you practice meditation.
Little by little I have learned that health is what you eat, but then it´s also much more. Eat well, sleep well, relax, exercise, and meditate. Have fun and do good for others. Be creative and enjoy. Think good thoughts. Love yourself and others. These things are so interesting that it’s a whole way of life, not just a hobby, but the passion and the meaning of my life. And these things have given me even more than my university studies. And what is important I could give valuable advices to others.
A few years ago I became more interested in blood sugar things and The Blood Sugar Solution is an important book for me. Again a new healthy path starts.

I love reading these success stories. Learning about health for me is becoming such a fun journey. It’s so fascinating all the alternatives that are out there to help you feel better. And yet some of the basics just don’t change. It is really amazing how many people in this world do not look more aggressively to help themselves.
