      • Some of the great bodies you see are inspiring (enviably so!). Watching others who are where I was this time last year tells me how FAR I have come. Seeing others who are very fit and trim working out all the time like myself makes me feel good about my efforts.

    While I may not live in the northern half of the country blanketed with snow, chilly temperatures here made me want to burrow under the covers and not get out.     Climbed 60 flights of stairs but I kicked it up a big notch by interval training I alternated 10 flights at a lower level of intensity then the next 10at double the previous pace.
    There are cute signs in the gym that state that sweat is the best accessory. I was accessorized to the max during that workout!!!

    I have added even more crunches on the ab-crunch weight machine (120). I love the feeling of power that comes from getting stronger and stronger as I push myself just a bit harder every week!

      • Sounds like something akin to ”Insanity” workouts! By plank variations I assume you mean plank poses to tighten and firm the core, right? Intense! You won’t be so sore next time and eventually you will be very, very strong! What is an EBX?

      • Hi Lisa, For some people, if you have a small amount of animal protein (an ounce or so is plenty) right after using your muscles. If you are not a vegetarian it may be worth a try. It worked for me years ago when I was working with a trainer.

    Does anyone have a solution for “healthy” food for long-distance athletes? In the summer, I may ride my bike for 3 hours or more and need to refuel.     • Dried fruit will spike your blood sugar even more than the fresh fruit will. Stick to 95% nuts and if you must 5% dried fruits.
