Goodness its quiet in this group. I’ve discovered my most recent round of “allergies” are related to leaky gut and candida after I was very ill in February. Major bummer but I am so thankful BSS has prepared me for the strict dairy-free, gluten-free and sugar-free diet I am now using. I’m using a combination of prescription medications,…[Read more]

    • Hi Selah – good luck with your Candida…it can take time to get rid of. I’m sure you doctor has you taking a probiotic . You probably should be on he advanced plan until this is resolved since sugar really triggers candida overgrowth. Problem with taking antibiotics for it the die off of the candida can make you feel pretty ill too. Take care of…[Read more]

      • Doctor? Probiotics? In the same sentence? LOL, I’d love to meet that kind of doc. I was shocked when after 16 years of anemia, one doc finally checked all of my blood counts and placed me on B12 and iron supplements. Sadly, they are clueless about probiotics. I learned about nutrition on my own (they never taught it in nursing school either).…[Read more]

    • Hi Selah, It is good to hear from you. So sorry to here February was a tough month for you. I hope the BSS is once again helpful to you. Blessings, Margaret

I have written a cookbook called Finally Food I Can Eat, a dietary guide and cookbook for people with food allergies. Recipes free of dairy, wheat, yeast, eggs, corn, sugar, soy, gluten and more. I have chapters dedicated to how to substitute in for common foods, rotation diets and food families. proper food combining, natural food chemicals and…[Read more]

    • I just up loaded your book and look very forward to reading it. I’m always on the look out for substitutions. Thanks!

I do not have health insurance and I had to depend on the county for my medical needs. It was more of a detriment than an asset. Several times I asked for and was denied allergy tests and that included blood work. I was told that it was illegal in Texas. Excuse me.

Now that I have left the county system and I feel much better but I do have a…[Read more]

    • Allergy testing is like walking through a minefield – you never know what or when an allergen is going to trigger a problem so it must be done in a controlled manner. That means your average doctor’s office or county clinic is not equipped or trained to handle the medical emergencies associated with allergies.
My experience with allergy testing…[Read more]

I went to a nutritionist several years ago and we got into shouting match. I brought a copy of a list of my food allergies after my allergy test. She kept pushing bananas. I am highly allergic to bananas. They share a compound that is found in latex. She said it was all in my head. Here’s a list of what I am allergic to.

    Carrots, eggs,…[Read more]

    • Hi Regina,
Now what you need to do is make a list of all the things you can eat. Have a list of vegetables and one of proteins. What are you eating now? What are your symptoms when you eat the wrong thing?
Bananas are not an issue on the BSS plan because they are not allowed. Why would the nutritionist talk about bananas when you have been tested…[Read more]

    • Regina, please research the FODMAPS diet. The app will tell you what foods you can and cannot eat (you have many of the not-allowed foods on your list). This diet is similar to BSS but eliminates many foods based on the type of sugar it contains. It is very effective at healing the gut and resting the immune system (yours is probably overactive).…[Read more]

I have been tested for food allergies and was told I am allergic to everything the world offers….scarey thing to absorb. The Dr. said there are things I can tolerate and there I things I need to stay away….such as chicken. Oh how I love chicken, but turkey is something I can tolerate. My question is…how do I work on a diet for diabetes…[Read more]

Definitely have severe food allergies. I can hardly eat anything. I do not eat anything except meat/fish and vegetables… and even that still kills me but I have to eat something or else I will die from starvation. Ugh.

    • Wow! Are you able to handle stevia and other natural sweeteners?

    • I am super sensitive to any kind of sugar in any form. Even stevia : (.

      • Really? I fortunately can handle some sugar substitutes. I really love stevia and have been using it for 10 years… and my only real vice is aspartame because I chew a lot of sugar-free orbit gum… but that’s my only source of aspartame. I had a stupid oral fixation apparently. LOL!!! What is Xyilotol like for you?

        • I use xylitol, stevia etc. for my kids. I used to enjoy it until I became insulin resistant. It’s possible that eventually once Ive given my body time to heal, I could reintroduce stevia. My brain reacts to it just like sugar at this point.
          Time will tell!

          • Ugh, I’m sorry to hear this because honestly stevia has been my LIFE saver. If I didn’t have it, I would probably go nuts, lol. I do hope that you can reintroduce it at some point because they I could give you my ”ice cream” recipe – lol!

            • Ya know…just looked at my protein shake and noticed it has stevia in it. I suppose because there is so much protein, it doesn’t seem to affect me. Yes, I hope I can eventually add it back in! I bet the ice cream is tasty

Hello! I am new to the program. I recently had labwork done at my functional medicine practitioner. I have several food allergies and it was overwhelming to hear at first. Gluten, dairy, yeast, nuts, and sadly eggs!

My doctor told me to avoid these foods to help heal the I allergies, insulin resistance and adrenal fatigue. However, he…[Read more]

    • Julia, buy the Blood Sugar Solution book. The program is already Gluten and Dairy free, and I think you’ll find plenty of options to be able to live without the other foods you need to avoid. Best to you.

    • Hi Julia, i wanted to add that going at your own pace is very important to success on the BSS plan. Planning ahead is crucial for anyone eating a restricted diet. Don’t leave home without something you can eat, because it can be difficult to find acceptable meals on the spur of the moment,
      Margaret

      • Yes! I’m beginning to see that the planning is critical. I made some meals ahead from the BSS book on Sunday. I love that I have something to grab whenever I need it.

I took my pumpkin seeds with me today : )

    • Hey Julia, how are you doing? I live without Dairy, Gluten & Yeast and it’s actually quite simple. Eggs is a sad thing to be allergic to but there are ways around it. Fish is delicious and can be eaten at any time of the day and is also a super food! :) You just need to get creative. If you want some ideas, let me know! :)[Read more]

      • Hello GiGi,

Thanks for replying. So far so good. I’m learning how to cook in a way that supports my body with its sensitivities. Thankfully, my family has enjoyed the recipies in the BSS book. Iits been a week now and my craving/withdrawal seem to be lessening.
I would love some ideas! Please send them my way. I’m having a hard…[Read more]

        • I am glad to hear your withdrawals are subsiding a little bit. And I do hope that this new method of cooking and eating will help you! :) What kind of protein shake did you buy? You should go for rice protein and/or hemp protein and/or pea protein – I never recommend WHEY to anyone… I can’t remember if Mark recommends it or not; I love how I…[Read more]

          • I love these suggestions. Thank you thank you! I am going to write some of those ideas out. I haven’t had spagetti squash in a couple years!
I bought “Vega” protein shake. It’s free of all allergens and it’s plant base. The vanilla chai taste so good. It’s has all the vitamins, fiber and antioxidants. Supposed to be good for blood …[Read more]

I have just started the plan. I am totally addicted to all diary and bread/gluten foods. Staying away from the grains has not been hard but I’m struggling w the diary issue. Does anyone know if coconut milk or almond milk might be ok?

    • Hi, coconut milk and almond are allowed, organic if possible. No sugar (all the flavored ones seem to have sweeteners) and as few additives as possible, The almond milk usually has a stabelizer to help keep it from separating and provide a creamier texture. Of course, you can make your own coconut milk and almond milk. Margaret

I have just started the plan. On my4th day and the first 2 days had mild allergic reactions. Salad from a salad bar is sprayed with sulfites to keep it fresh. That was the second day and the first day had a reaction to salmon in a brown rice salmon suchi roll. First 2 days were tough but it seems to be getting easier. I am allergic to most…[Read more]

PRE PREPAIR ALL YOUR MEALS SO YOU NEVER GET STUCK BEING HUNGRY WITH NOTHING PREPAIRED. AS FOR STEVIA I DONT KNOW THE INGREDIENCE OR IF IT IS ALL NATURAL.
