Hypertension
Public Group active 1 month, 1 week agoHypertension (HTN) or high blood pressure, sometimes arterial hypertension, is a chronic medical condition in which the blood pressure in the arteries is elevated. This requires the heart to work harder than normal to circulate blood through the blood vessels. Blood pressure involves two measurements, systolic and diastolic, which depend on whether the heart muscle is contracting (systole) or relaxed (diastole) between beats. Normal blood pressure is at or below 120/80 mmHg. High blood pressure is said to be present if it is persistently at or above 140/90 mmHg.

Hypertension 5 months, 2 weeks agoIt’s better than regular salt but if I use too much, it makes me retain fluid. I am trying to cut back.

Hypertension 6 months, 1 week agoWhat is the opinion of Pink Himalayan salt? I hear Dr. Oz promoting it several times. Is this better than sea salt.

Hypertension 8 months, 2 weeks agoI have a question? If I want to become one of your patients, where do I start? I really really desperately need your help.!!!!!! I am sick and tired of these doctors prescribing me all of this medication which I feel I don’t need. I have 2 young daughters that I need to be here for in the future and living this way is making me sick and possibly…[Read more]

I don’t know how to advise you on this one. I went to a so-called physician to compare medications so that there was overlap, no contraindications, etc. While talking to this “Dr” she kept saying we need to add an additional blood pressure medication. I was on Ibuprofen (which is standard operating procedure for medication after visiting the…[Read more]

Somewhere on this site, there is a list of doctors that are functional doctors. You put your zip code in and it tells you where the nearest doctor is. The closest functional doctor to me is 2 1/2 hours away. There are 10 docs listed. I plan to start looking into it on Monday.

I have been able to reduce my blood pressure medications. The thing that seems to be most helpful is the addition of 2 turmeric capsules per day. I started out with one. I also try to eat a lot of high potassium foods and not so many high sodium foods. We bought gelatin capsules, and the turmeric is just the form that would be used in cooking.…[Read more]

Hypertension 1 year agoI just marvel at how dramatically my blood pressure has dropped and returned to normal in the 6 weeks of plan. It is PERFECT: 102/68. Now, if my HDL returns to high heights and my LDL returns to low levels, I will be shouting with joy. More work to be done.

Congrats Janine! I’m sure you’ll be shouting with joy in the near future due to excellent cholesterol levels!

Hi, Susan,
Thanks, It is so exciting to see great results and those results spur one on to keep at it. I am trying hard to learn PATIENCE! I am trying not to weigh myself every day and wait for better hdl/ldl results in a few more months. I spent 30+ years mistreating my body, so it is unreasonable to expect overnight results. Maybe it’s all…[Read more]-

Hi Janine,
I agree that the excitement of success on this plan keeps us going, as long as we continue to work it. At this stage in my life, and after many failed attempts at long-term weight loss and improved health, I have finally learned to be patient with losing weight and reversing my medical conditions! LOL….. took awhile, but I’ve finally…[Read more]-

Hypertension 1 year, 1 month agoThis a.m. my BP hit a new low 93/65. I was almost concerned that it is too low! I just began taking plant sterols and red rice yeast capsules on Sunday. I hope my HDL and LDL are taking as good a ”hit” as my BP!

Thanks. Week one, day one, BP was 140/90. I just started taking red yeast rice capsules and plant sterols on Monday of this week to help me reverse my HDL/LDL levels. I wonder if these two supplements are the reason why my a.m. BP is the lowest is has been since I began this journey? Don’t know. Don’t care. Just happy, happy!

Hypertension 1 year, 1 month agoI started the diet slowly over a month before committing to the 6 week advanced plan. On my 2nd week now. My blood pressure to start was stubbornly in the 140/90 range. My average is now 126/77! I still have occasional highs of 158/88. These highs seem to be on mornings when I have not slept well and or had nightmares. Any thoughts?

vincentmckie replied 1 year, 1 month ago
that would seem normal after a nightmare, you wake up in the flight or fight mode. I would do some deep breathing as instructed in the book. It brings my blood pressure down almost instantly. As far as the not sleeping well, you may want to get checked for sleep apnea. Especially if you snore. I snored for years, (so my wife tells me, LOL). …[Read more]

I am in the middle of week 4, plus 3 whole weeks preparation. My blood pressure four weeks ago was 140/90, but there had been a reading of 146/84 about a week or so before that. In the first 3 weeks, my blood pressure came down, but stubbornly stayed around 122/74. Last weekend, as I began week four, my bp finally left the 120′s and dropped to…[Read more]

I use the salt and like it. It may have different minerals than sea salt, but probably not much difference health wise.
