Metabolism
Public Group active 1 week agoMetabolism (from Greek: μεταβολ “change” or Greek metabolismos, “outthrow”) is the set of chemical reactions that happen in the cells of living organisms to sustain life. These processes allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments. Metabolism is usually divided into two categories. Catabolism breaks down organic matter, for example to harvest energy in cellular respiration. Anabolism uses energy to construct components of cells such as proteins and nucleic acids.

Metabolism 1 week, 2 days agoI have read ultramind solution and am reading ultra- metabolism. I usually just juice in the morning (apple, kale, lemon, ginger, beet). I was wondering if there is a reason i should not juice while doing ultra metabolism. Thanks!

Metabolism 1 month, 3 weeks agoHi all, I just finished reading the blood sugar book. Am 59, about 25 stubborn pounds over what I want to be and just went off coffee, alcohol, sugar, night snacks cold turkey. Three weeks now. Very determined to lose the weight but am having a bit of trouble with digestion. I don’t know if the things I have given up totally messed me up or what.…[Read more]

You might want to add a probiotic to the supplements you are taking. It does take time for you system to adjust to the new eating plan. If you are eating meat as your protein a serving size is 4 oz or less. Dr Hyman actually recommends 6 oz or less per week and using meat as a condiment. I eat two salads a day at lunch and dinner with a huge…[Read more]

Hi Sarah, Some people on the BSS advanced plan have had digestive problems and elimination problems. They seem to go away on their own after being on the plan for a month or two. I think the digestive system has a big adjustment to make. For me I think grains irritated my stomach causing acid indigestion and irritated my intestines. After giving…[Read more]

Nicole and Margaret, thank you for your comments. They do make me feel better. I have been feeling really draggy and having trouble eliminating. I will add a probiotic. I have determined that no grains will be best for me for quite a while. I am eating eggs, beans, garbanzos, split peas, lentils, fish for protein and a lot of green salads with…[Read more]

I am a woman..mid fifties..haven’t had a cycle in 4 years..no hot flashes..maybe just a few lbs bigger than I like to be..but still in my normal weight range..

Nicole replied 2 months, 1 week ago
Your coconut yogurt with berries has a lot of sugar and might be what is putting you back on the sugar roller coaster.

Metabolism 2 months, 3 weeks agoTomorrow is my first day off sugar, flour, dairy, alcohol…all that stuff. I expect I will feel a lot of things about that, but in this moment I just feel relief. I’ve never made the commitment before to changing my lifestyle permanently. Sugar has always been my drug of choice and abstinence is the model for me. Here it goes!

Good Luck with your first day off the ”baddies” …I am sure that you have a kitchen packed with healthy foods and ready for you to begin your journey. Make sure you drink plenty of water ( 1/2 your body weight in ounces of liquid” . Apprehension is normal …you can do this! Just take it one day at a time.

Metabolism 5 months, 1 week agoI’ve been successful on every diet I ever went on (which is all of them!) until now. It appears that all that yo-yo dieting has finally caught up with me as I have not been able to lose any weight during the last year. I tried vegan for a year (I was the only fat vegan I know and didn’t lose a pound!), Adkins (I previously lost 78 pounds on…[Read more]

Hi Carol, The BSS plan has really helped many people. I find that keeping my blood sugar levels constant keeps me from cravings and returning to the ‘old way of eating’ for more than a slip up. I found that within a week of being on the advanced plan with very little supplementation (that is introduced in week three) I was experiencing a huge…[Read more]

Carol! Just stopping by to see how you are doing? No more yo-yos to weigh you down, I hope things have been and are still going smoothly! Good luck and keep your head up!
