I used to get frequent migraines perhaps 7 a month. I used to take Axert but got heart palps. Was also on sleeping meds and progesterone cream to help with my hot flashes. Went off sleeping meds and prog cream and my migraines have gone down to once a month. How can I eliminate them totally? My dr wants me to go back on bio identical hormones as I am 47 and truly in menopause. I have had CFS for 26 years as well.

I have experienced two full blown migraines, but have also had optical migraines. Recently I experienced a week when I had them everyday. Are migraines in any way brought on by diabetes? I had never experienced them many days in a row before. I have looked them up for information online, but haven't read anything about the cause, but thought it might have some connection.

I have been getting migraines for 40 years. I am personally interested in prevention, more than what to do once I get one. I recently read the book "Cure your Headache" by Dr. Buchholz and it makes a lot of sense:
1. Reduce your exposure to triggers such as caffeine, various foods, and non-essential medications.
2. Eliminate rebound effects of caffeine and decongestants, as well as some migraine meds.
3. raise your threshold by regular exercise, good sleep, and low stress.
I would add a healthy, plant-based diet, such as the one Dr. Hyman recommends.
I have also heard taking Butterbur may help prevent them.
I know what you're going thru, and it's not fair, but life isn't fair. We must do our best to help each other during the migraine-free time we have. We must learn to fully appreciate our good days. Please post any suggestions or success stories here!

I have had migraines for thirty years. The headaches increased in frequency and intensity until I never experienced a day without one. Five years ago I gave up gluten and my migraines became manageable, but I still had too many. Recently, I started taking 800 mgs magnesium glycinate a few hours before bedtime, and it seems that my migraines are more reduced. To say that migraines are the bane of my existence is an understatement. I am only alive because I love my husband and my children.

I have been getting migraines for years, they last anywhere from 3-5 days and just wipe me out. My dr had me on premarin(hormone replacement) for awhile and it worked. Does anyone know of a natural way to get rid of these

I experience headaches that recur monthly, i relate this to hormone fluctuation. I also have noticed I sinus pressure and headaches during changes in the barometric pressure, right before a storm. I don' t think they are migraines but I do have nausea, light-headed feeling, usually wake up with strong pain, when I move my head it effects the severity of the pain. Any suggestions or opinions?

Hi, I'm a Newbie to all this, just trying to find my footing. I'm diagnosed as MAV--Migraine Associated Vertigo, which in my case consists of an inter-related inner ear and migraine. Any others out there?

I've had a migraine off and on for the past four days. Unfortunately, I can't take migraine meds because of other meds I'm on. I'm wondering if anyone has anything that has worked for them? My husband is coming home this afternoon to look after our daughter so I can just lie down in the dark, but obviously that won't work full-time. And, I've gone back to drinking coffee as that seems to help in the short run, which I feel like I need to take care of my child when she's home from school, but obviously it's not good in the long run. I also drink green tea, which can help as well. Thanks you guys for any thoughts, suggestions!
