I’m so confused! Dr. Hyman talks about divided supplement doses in BSS but I’m taking the 7 pills in the Pure Encapsulations PureLean pak plus a vitamin D-3 all at the same time with my breakfast so there is nothing to take with dinner. Because the PureLean pak is so expensive, I visited a well respected homeopathic pharmacy in Santa Monica,…[Read more]

    • Hi Victoria, here’s how I take the 7 pill Purelean Pak: 1 multivitamin in the morning, 1 multivitamin with lunch ,and the remaining multivitamin plus the 4 other supplements with dinner. I also take several other supplements including fenugreek plus and insinase. I actually typed and printed out a sheet with which supplements to take at which…[Read more]

    • Hi Victoria, I have only taken the capsules of PGX or glucomannon. I use the glucomannon now because it is soo much less expensive. I get it at the Vitamin Shoppe, a national chain. I no longer take it every day. When i do take it, I use two capsules at a time, either mid morning or mid afternoon. If I am going to be out and about all day I take…[Read more]

I actually got very sick today from all the supplements. I’m taking the PGX ten minutes or so before lunch and again before dinner and then waiting two hours after I eat to take my supplements. I used to take my vitamins (prior to being on the program) with my meals and that padded my tummy ok. But today I got sick from all the supplements. I…[Read more]

    • I would add one supplement at a time and wait a few days before adding the next. I take my morning pills with my ultra shake ( which is breakast..so no problem there as no PGX and then I take my evening pills before bed ( a least two hours after dinner with a little bit of food. Usually some nuts or a spoon of peanut butter. Don’t think that you…[Read more]

Can anybody recommend a good protein drink that both tastes good and is consistent with the program? I do a regular weight training routine and I like a protein shake now and then. Before eliminating the sugars and sugar subs I used Muscle Milk but since it contains sucralose it’s off my list!

    • It is hard to find one that doesn’t have any sugar in it because the ingredients they are made of my have some natural sugar. Look at Dr Hyman’s website under Healthy Living Store and compare the ingredients that are in his Protein shakes with your favorites. I have used MRM Veggie Protein in the past and because I am in the 9th month..I…[Read more]

    • My Dr. took me off supplements temporarily, including protein powder, but I used to drink a pre workout shake I made with brown rice protein powder, fruit, cinnamon, and flax oil. Used whey too, probably the best taste/texture wise, but decided to steer away from dairy, even though it doesn’t seem to cause problems for me. These days if I have…[Read more]

    • Sunwarrior Protein is sugar free, has many amino acids in it and does not taste that bad (I was using hemp before this one). It is ”raw” and ”vegan” but suitable for athletes and other active persons who want to build muscle. It’s whole grain brown rice but only 4 g of carbs which is about as low as it gets.

    • You might try JJ Virgin’s All-in-one Shake – made by Thorne Labs. I’ve been using it for about 6 months – very tasty – no soy,no dairy – made up of rice and pea proteins – vitamins, etc. Check it out on Amazon. Comes in chocolate, vanilla, and chai – all of them good.

Hi. I’m on day two, first week of the advanced plan. I received the supplements today that I ordered. Wow, a bit of a shock at the large number of supplements to take each day. And I didn’t even order all the supplements suggested by my quiz. I got the Wellness Essentails Healthy Balance, Detox Kit, Boost Kit and I forgot what the last kit…[Read more]

    • I take a bunch…I bought two of the Sunday through Saturday pil boxes and set up my pills once every two weeks. I take my morning pills with my morning ultra shake and usually take my evening pills with a few nuts so I have something in my stomach. Don’t take PGX or any fiber supplement at the same time as you are taking your pills. This is why…[Read more]

      • Nicole, you are such a blessing! When should I take the PGX?

        • 10 minutes before your lunch and 10 minutes before your dinner. I drink my fiber supplement while I am fixing my meal. It is not as effective if you take it too much longer before your meal. How it works is it coats your stomach and in doing so slows down the digestion of what you eat Because it slows down the digestion of your blood sugar…[Read more]

    • I read somewhere that you should wait 2 hours after taking a fiber supplement like PGX before taking medications or other supplements. So basically you should wait 2 hours after your meal (if you take PGX or glucomannan) to take your meds. The PGX prevents the meds /supplements from being absorbed. Anyone else heard about this?

      • Wow, now I’m totally confused! HELP SOMEONE!

        • Hi Rissa, I didn’t mean to confuse you. I was adding to what Nicole said. 10-15 minutes before a meal, take the PGX. Eat your meal. Wait a couple of hours to take meds/supplements. It makes sense to me — if the PGX prevents some amount of absorption (e.g. sugar and fat), it’s best to wait a couple of hours to take your meds and other…[Read more]

          • I take my evening supplements while watching tv a little before bedtime and Definitely more than 2 hours after my dinner time. I usually have eaten a few nuts a little bit before taking them so there is something in my stomach when I take my supplements . I think the big mistake most people make when losing weight is not drinking enough water.…[Read more]

      • Hi Vimala, the PGX – glucomannon slows the rate of absorption, I do not think it prevents absorption. I take several prescription drugs (I can tell if they are working) and occasionally goof up, taking things together or very close. So far no problems. I do notice that the diuretic does have a delayed reaction, by about one hour or more. If I take…[Read more]

        • Thank you, Margaret, I stand corrected. Slow (or delay), not prevent absorption.
I am doing okay, still waiting for fasting bg to go below 90. Hovering in the 95 – 105 range. One of these days…
          I hope you’re doing well.

          • Hi Vimala,
Do you take meds for blood sugar level or are you doing this by diet alone. I do not have a diabetic problem, but my fasting blood sugar has dropped 12 points while on this plan. usually around 80 now. i seem fine at 78, but do not really know because I never test at home.
            Blessings, Margaret

            • I do take oral meds. At my last dr appt, my dosage was halved! My goal is to get off meds completely. I’m so envious of your bg of 80! Mine had dropped to the 80s on this plan. Since returning from my trip, it’s been higher than I would like. So I’m just plugging away, knowing it WILL get better.

    • Hi Rissa, It took me two months or more to get through the Essential wellness pack. First, go through and see if there are any duplicates from kit to kit (there probably will be. Then use all the duplicates to extend the time you will take the dosages. Do not try to take them all at once. So if all the kits have an omega oil pill, just take one or…[Read more]
