Hello, I wanted to share my reintroduction of cheese into my diet. I completed the 6 week advanced plan from BSS. I reintroduced cheese (asiago). The first thing is it did not taste as great as I thought it would, much more salty and less nutty flavor. Probably because I have been eating much less salt and way more nuts.
The reactions within 12-24 hours were pain in hip (the spot where, before the plan, my most severe arthritis pain was), slight foggy brain, increase in mucus in sinus and throat, puffy eyes in morning, slightly less energy
    and groggy in the morning.
Cheese is off the list for 6 more weeks.
Also my appetite returned big time yesterday. This could be psychological because I have been letting myself think a lot about the foods I am going to reintroduce. I have decided to go back to taking the PGX and see if that lowers my appetite.
Overall I am pleasantly surprised at how comfortable it is too eat the ’same old choices’ I have been eating for 6 weeks.
    Blessings, Margaret

Thanks for sharing your valuable lesson with us all, especially about the return of the arthritis pain after you had dairy. I will remember that because being almost pain-free is one of the best parts of this eating plan. Hope you feel better.

Okay, so that didn’t work (personally I would have chosen a small serving of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream) but, to each his own. :-) I don’t know though. A sugar and dairy hit at the same time might just be lethal! Better rethink my future. Are you planning on another addition anytime soon? (little note: I’m making my second batch of blueberry muffins today, finally finished that first batch – the last one was the sweetest of them all.)

      • Hi Barb, I introduced quinoa. I love it and there has been no reaction so far, but it could be early days yet. That will be it for this week. I have no intention of introducing sugar soon. If I do it will be a small amount of honey or agave. Maybe in a month.
Aren’t those blueberry muffins life savers? When I need a snack a half muffin fills me up. Sometimes I put the organic frozen mixed berries in.
        Stay well, Margaret

YES! Blueberry muffins rule. Mine are cooling right now and I’ll probably refrigerate them without having one today. You were right about them being better after they’ve cooled. Couldn’t wait last batch but I’ll postpone having one this time. I only have a very few berries left for today anyway and I want them in my salad. Never had quinoa. I know it’s a grain. Do you eat it like rice, maybe?

          • Barb, Quinoa is treated and used as a grain, but it is a seed.
It is the only grain with a complete protein matrix (like animal flesh) so you do not have to combine it with other foods to get complete protein.
Many people consider it the most nutritious grain. I just made tabbouleh with it. I added way more parsley, mint and cilantro than any recipe and went heavy on the veggies. It is great. Use quinoa like you would use rice (or noodles) as a side dish with chopped veggies or to just extend a curry dish or salad or soup or stew. I am enjoying having as many berries as I want, although i am not having many more than 1/2 cup.
            Have a great evening. Margaret

    • Great, Margaret. That’s another miracle of the program – the conversation you get to have with your body. I guess I had one before, but I was too frantic to hear. Probably the sugar and everything else. This program has slowed me down enough (without the addictions screaming at me) that I can hear what my body is telling me. I really do have control over how good I feel. Hmmm. . . What to do with THAT information.

Thank you for sharing your revelation.

Very well put Arlene. I don’t think I listened closely either. I just heard my aches and pains and blames most of it on normal aging.

        • You get hooked when you realize your aging process doesn’t need to be miserable. I feel better now than I did 30 years ago – and I’m a heck of a lot smarter. ;-)

You got that right! I look back 30 years and would much rather be where I am right now that being back there. Sadly I was a heavy smoker back in those days. I’m smoke free now for 25 years and I’m still proud of that! Makes me think I can do this blindfolded. Well, probably shouldn’t cook with my blindfold on. :-(
