Diet & Nutrition 1 year, 1 month ago Okaaaay! After posting last week when I was having such a hard time with acid reflux and feeling so sick, I think I’m past it! I can hardly believe it. In the last 10 days I’ve only had about 5 capsules and none in more than two whole days, and I’m feeling okay to good. Thanks for the support! I’m happy to share details if that would be helpful for anyone. Anna

Hi Anna, i am getting off prilosec next week so you give me hope! I did read about a licorice product called DGL that I am going to use. There is no way that the BSS diet is going to bother this hernia thing that is causing the heartburn. Margaret
Love to you next week! Let me know how I can support you. I’m using probiotics, but I think one of the most helpful things for me was discovering that I’d been holding in my stomach, which means I’d been actually pushing against my abdomen and maybe causing acid to rise more than it would have otherwise. You know how most of us want to have flatter abs so we tense our abdominal muscles etc. Well, I think I got into that habit without realizing it years ago, and I think it was causing stress instead of the calm and relaxation Dr. Hyman talks about being helpful for digestion. So I’ve been cultivating the habit or relaxing my stomach and abdomen, though I think it looks awful now, but I’m sure it won’t when we’ve trimmed down. I’ve been doing deep “diaphragmatic breathing,” which is on page 233 in the BSS book (I looked it up on kindle and found 40 references to breathing in the book!), and I’ve been learning about and practicing energy medicine through a book called ”Energy Medicine” by Donna Eden and working with a practitioner. There are suggestions in the book that were helpful. I’m still using them, acid comes up once in a while, but it isn’t very often and it isn’t very intense! Yay! It can be done, and, as it turns out, relatively easily! All the best to you! Keep us posted! Anna
Tai Chi Chuan (also transliterated Tajiquan) is a great way to get a low impact work out, improve balance, improve energy circulation, and meditate as well. The diaphragmatic breathing is built into Taiji — that’s how you’re supposed to breathe when you do it.
Thanks for this info! I’ll see what I can find and follow up. Anna
