In reply to: Karen Daley posted an update in the group Diabesity / Diabetes I jumped into the program 4 1/2 weeks ago when it appeared I’d have to Up my levemir again. I was already taking 73 u at night and 48 in the am. My […] ViewThat’s great news about the reduction in insulin! I haven’t started yet as I’m waiting for the book but am really hoping that it will make a dent in my blood glucose levels and mean that I can reduce the Metformin that I’m on (4x 500mg). I hope that the tiredness sorts itself out though and that you feel more energised soon.

In reply to: apple123 posted an update in the group Diabesity / Diabetes I’ve only recently found this site and heard of Dr Hyman’s book The Blood Sugar Solution. Unfortunately, I don’t live near a discount supermarket like Lidl or Aldi which offer much cheaper goods. I can’t really afford organic either – although occasionally I’ve bought organic green veg like broccoli – partly because I’ve…[Read more]

Heavens, the grocery costs in England are high!!! Here in Texas, I try to buy items offered in the weekly sales, buy frozen chicken tenders and fish fillets and ez-peel shrimp. I just made a huge pot of vegetable/cabbage “chili” ( I call it chili because of the spices I used), and for a modest investment, I have enough soup servings for 8…[Read more]

Diabesity / Diabetes 1 year agoI’ve only recently found this site and heard of Dr Hyman’s book The Blood Sugar Solution. It looks really effective – but can anyone advise me on the cost of implementing the recommended advanced diet? Is it possible on a low budget?

Hi, Yes it can be accomplished on a low budget. Concentrate on the proper foods and introduce supplements as you can. You will save some money not buying the foods you eat. Buy your vegetables at a farmers market if possible. Stay with protein that you can afford. If you cannot afford organic chicken go with Foster Farms (no relation) a brand that…[Read more]

Margaret has a very good response for you and I agree completely. I might add that in my case I believe that I am not as likely now to waste foods to spoilage or expiring dates. I would buy lots of healthy produce and then eat the junk instead. Couldn’t seem to help myself. I really think I’ll spend less or maybe just a wash on the grocery…[Read more]

I found that the 99cent store has organic lettuces for sale on Wednesdays. Sometimes they have spinach and kale too. Big boxes of the stuff.

I think Margaret gave great advice. I can’t afford all of the supplements but take those I can and I make eating healthy food my focus. I know you will find choices that will make a difference. I do save money by not buying bread, coffee, prepared foods, wine, and many other things I’m just not using right now–mayonnaise, butter and more. I…[Read more]

I have Dr. Hymans The Ultrasimple Diet book. Can anyone tell me if the Sugar Solution is the same info? If so I don’t want to purchase the book

Selah replied 1 year ago
You will find Sugar Solution (BSS) different in many ways. More information regarding glycemic index, supplements, health quizzes, etc. have all been updated. A few of the foods found in the older books are not used in BSS. Some of the information repeats, some has changed. If you want something specific for blood sugar management, then you will…[Read more]

If you follow the plan you will make a huge dent in your blood glucose levels. I went from Metformin (3 x 850 mg) to zero pills within 1 week and my levels are very stable all through the day! And I feel amazing!
