    WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
    That was kind of the holy grail of weight loss for me, that weight where you don’t feel fat anymore!

    That is wonderful, Margaret. I can relate.
    I thought where you were going with that was how the sweet drinks used to be few and far between, now they’re in every store and on every corner!
    I heard the average Starbucks drink has 850 calories – don’t know if it’s true but once you stop the sugar thing you become aware of how it’s everywhere!

    • Hi Barbara, You are so right about every place offering high calorie, unhealthy servings, as treats. These things are not even meant to be entire meals. I am amazed at how I can have a satisfying meal for 300-500 calories. At the same time people are drinking lattes or eating a bagel that has that many calories, and those are snacks.

    Have you been following any of Dr. Hyman’s plans?
    I know what you mean about mentioning The Blood Sugar Solution to doctors. Some get it, others look at you like you’re from outer space.

    Hi Nicole,
    I had the surgery Wed. and am glad that’s over! No walking for a couple of days, a boot for at least 2 weeks and NO SWIMMING!
    What is it with setting a worthy goal, and suddenly there’s this avalanche of resistance?
    The food poisoning/flu thing didn’t knock me off my routine, but not being able to walk or get my foot wet is quite…[Read more]

    • good Idea about the resale outlets. I’ll see what is near me. All I really need right now is a basic blue suit of good quality. I can pretty much make due with what I have in the meantime. sounds like your foot surgery went fine. Two weeks passes by really quickly so you will be up and about walking and exercising again in no time. Take Care!

It has been very hot here in San Diego so I have been out at the crack of down for my morning walk and have missed a couple of the evening walks this week. But I am happy with 12 walks out of 14. Still at 163-164 lb range. Been there for a week now , so i’ll probably see some movement…[Read more]

  • I didn’t make my fifth workout this week, not good considering I’m having surgery on my foot next week and that will stall me for a while also. I just hope they don’t give me something in my IV (like glucose) to spike my appetite in addition to not getting my exercise. I think I’ll switch to yoga for next week.     Sometimes you can lose inches without losing pounds. Are your clothes fitting any looser? Do you have more energy yet?

    I just read a great book, Healthier Without Wheat, by Steven Rangen. He talks about the dangers of celiac and the consequences for people who don’t know they have it and keep eating even small amounts of gluten.

    Nicole, when you pointed out to me that my blood sugar might be elevated when I was sick – and I checked it and it was – it made me wonder what it is about our bodies fighting the good fight to get rid of illness that causes the blood sugar to elevate.
    Sounds like it’s true for fighting off inflammation too.

    Brown rice flour bakery can be pretty good with the right recipe, but what I’ve really been enjoying lately is Almond Meal! Bob’s Red Mill makes a good one, and they seem to take gluten-free seriously.
