Just started the 2 week planning/getting ready phase. I feel like I’m jumping off a cliff. So much information to digest. I’m trying to take one day at a time. Today I read through a lot of your comments. I found them helpful and re-assuring. Thank you all so much.

    • Aloha! I’m just starting too. I feel the same way you do about digesting all of the information. I read the book and this is my first day on the website. I just finish setting up my profile and completing all of the quizzes on line to begin documenting my history on the website. After I completed reading the book 3 weeks ago, I drove to my local Vitamin store and purchased many of the basic supplements Dr. Hyman recommended in the book, i.e. fish oil, PGX, D3, Magnesium, Alpha-Liposomething, green tea, etc. I was really feeling physically awful at the time. After taking the supplements for 3 weeks now, I feel so much better and so much mentally stronger. So much so that I took steps beginning last week to exercise to my idle routine (yesterday I met with a fitness trainer and beggining next week, we’ll meet every Monday/Wed/Fri). I also began noticing how I feel after I eat, which I felt awful. I identified from reading Dr. Hyman’s book that I cannot handle carbs, grains, fruits and dairy. When I ate meals last and this week with only meat and veggies, I felt good afterward. When I ate meals with carbs, grain, dairy or fruit, I had headaches, stomach ache, body aches, and I felt so sluggish and tired. So now, I’m convinced that only meat (lean beef and certain fish) and veggies are the best combo for me. Today, I woke up with the decision that I needed to go on Dr. Hyman’s website, register, and get serious about implementing the 2 week planning/getting ready phase and begin to take his suggestions seriously. The last 3 weeks of just ”dabling” with some of his advice and ”noticing” how I feel before/after is what I needed to jump off the cliff. It’s so much to digest. But it’s definitely digestable, one bite at a time. At least you and I know that we are jumping off the right cliff and digesting things that will make us feel physically and mentally better then we do now. I live in paradise on earth but now I need to create paradise in my physical body and mind…because I’ve created only hell in the last 44 years. I ready to match the inside with the outside. :) Please be encouraged. I am….

      • Hi Germaine, It sounds as if you are well motivated for the BSS plan. You will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly things change for the better.
One thing that will make following the plan easier is preparation. If you have your food planned out ahead and prepped, you will have an easier time of it. Keeping vegetables cleaned and ready to eat raw or cooked saves time and keeps you from going out to eat.
Good luck and keep us posted, Margaret

        • Margaret, Thanks for the reminder to plan and prepare ahead. It takes the guess work out of meal time. I feel a little more ready for week 1 every day. I have lost 8 pounds just getting ready. Guess white sugar and flour were the bad guys. So far it has been easy to give them up. No cravings.

          • Hi Bonnie, Prep week is just amazing for some people. You are for sure on the right track if the cravings are disappearing so quickly.
            Please keep us posted. Margaret

    • Hi Bonnie,
There is a lot to remember on this plan. The week by week guide in the BSS book is a great help. And as the days go by the information will sink in.
This site really kept me on track and provided community support since I was doing the plan alone. If you have questions just ask and you will probably get an answer. Also if you have a lot of food or suppliment questions the nutritional coaching is very helpful.
      Stay well, Margaret week 13

    • I felt like that it was just too much to understand too. But when I began just going step by step, in the prep period the pieces began to fall into place. I have a routine now and can continue that easily. Now I buy one different vegetable to try out and this week I have a gaint purple egg plant. This could be interesting. Good luck, Sandy
