“Forbidden meat sticks”: that’s what I call them now. Even after a year I still feel their force trying to pull me in…but I look at them as a non healing food…I win the battle over the “forbidden meat sticks.” Congrats on your win and the success with lower blood sugars!

Welcome Martha. I’ve been following the Advanced plan for almost one full year. My primary reason for following the BBS was for weight loss, to reduce my blood presssure and the ever growing fear of becoming diabetic. Since beginning I have lost a total of 51 lbs. My doctor has taken me off of all blood pressure meds and I feel wonderful. …[Read more]

In two days I’ll be marking nine months of following BSS. In the past nine months I’ve not had one migraine, my energy level is highest it’s been in years, I have been able to stop all blood pressure meds and have lost 45 pounds. My doctor is very supportive and still can’t believe I gave up caffeine, she swears she could never do without…[Read more]

    • Hi Cambria – good to hear that you are doing so well. Wow 45 lbs lost in 9 months. That is so great! Making exercise a permanent part of each day is difficult for all of us. I have come to the conclusion that the only way that I can consistently meet my exercise goals is to make schedule it in on my calendar each day and to make it just as…[Read more]

    • Congratulations, Cambria! That’s wonderful news. I look forward to getting off all my meds as well. My goal is to make it happen this year. To that end, I’m going to ramp up my exercise regimen. You’re right, this is a great site to get inspired, motivated and to share with others going through the same journey.

I experienced something similar to this in the beginning. (I began the advanced BSS in April) I went to my personal doctor and she checked me to make sure she found nothing wrong and suggested that my hormones were readjusting to all the changes my body was going through. I used to have extreme PMS and weight gain each month, but now I don’t see…[Read more]

My favorite breakfast food is Turkey Chili with Red Beans. I’m out the door at 5:30am so I don’t have much time to cook, chili is a fast micro dish. Then I snack on some veggies once I get to work to balance out my protien/carbs. If you’ve not added beans or have an issue with them, the chili is still wonderful without. The receipe is in…[Read more]

    • hi Cambria, If you are cooking several servings at once, you can go through the tedium of calculating calories for the entire dish, then divide the total by the number of servings you use. Then you can keep the figures for future reference.
If you are loosing weight on this plan you can just go with the flow. If you are not loosing weight on the…[Read more]

For many years, my husband and I have used some computer software called DietPower. It has to be purchased, but it will combine ingredients into a recipe and then allow the information from that to be entered as a part of the daily food intake. Is this what you are talking about?

    • Hello Cambria,
Getting on kind of late here, but I’ve found these two websites to be of great value for my husband. Mike’e Calorie & Fat Gram Chart at http://www.caloriecountercharts.com/chart1a.htm and the other is: http://whatscookingamerica.net/NutritionalChart.htm. I hope these help along with the other info you’ve received.
