Diet & Nutrition 11 months, 4 weeks agoI started my advance diet plan through the dr. hyman diabesity diet in the women world magazine, I haven’t been able to buy the book b/c of finances. That being said, I kinda would like to know what does dr hyman’s book say about when we blow it? I gave in to tempations and ate carbs & sugar….yuk, and that just how I feel. Have you called your library I am sure they have it or can order it for you. You really need to read the book to understand why your doing what your doing.

Maggie89810 replied 11 months, 3 weeks ago
The book also tells us to avoid all processed food/ everything in a bag, box or whatever. If it’s grown on a plant instead of made in a plant you can eat it.
Avoid gluten and diary for 6 weeks as if it’s poison.
Avoid carbo, including fruit. Of course no sugar, but also no sweeteners.
No coffee, but at least 2 quarts of water a day.
Hope this…[Read more]

In reply to: MaryFrances posted an update in the group Recipes Hi all! Just curious – is brown rice pasta allowed on the basic plan? I bought some at Whole Foods the other day and the only ingredient listed is ”brown rice […] ViewI use cauliflower instead of pasta, I only steam it for about 5 mins to where it just still a little hard/crunchy. then I put over it, my homemade spaghetti sauce with lean ground beef or turkey. w3/d6.

Diet & Nutrition 12 months agoweek 3/day 6. 2 days ago, I had one of the zero calorie ”ice” drinks, I couldn’t stand it anymore. I drink nothing but water or water with lemon. Because I mess up, does that mean that my progress, with the anti-inflamatory healing process, will be affected in a major way?
-
bevpearson replied 12 months ago
I have no idea but would like to know also.
-
Susan Schwartz replied 12 months ago
One zero calorie ”ice” drink is not going to have a major impact on your progress if you are adhering to the rest of the plan. Also, you’re allowed to have 1-2 cups of green tea and unlimited herbal teas on both the basic and advanced plans. You may want to add ice tea to your daily liquids in order to have some variety.

hawaiiBarbara replied 12 months ago
I can’t stand artifical sweetners anymore either. Interesting how quickly our tastes change! Your body will have to clear out whatever ”junk” you consume, so I suppose going off plan could slow down your progress, but one zero calorie drink is hardly major.

i don’t think sweeteners of any kind are allowed…even honey. however, maybe somebody else can give a better answer.
-
Diane replied 12 months ago
My reading of the book says that all sugars and artificial sweeteners are verboten.

Margaret Foster replied 1 year ago
Hi Chyan, Agave is not allowed during the plan. Even stevia, an herb is banned. Your brain and metabolism react to ’sweet’ taste in a negative manner.
Agave is a healthier alternative to sugar if you are feeding a family or have to use a small amount of sweetener.
Good luck, Margaret-

Yes, any processed sweetener, natural sweetener or artificial sweetener is forbidden. On the advanced plan 1/2 cup of berries and sweet tasting things like cinnamon, leaf mint and jicama are allowed. The basic BSS plan allows a bit more fruit of a certain type.
If you are pre diabetic or diabetic or have low blood sugar issues all the forbidden…[Read more]-

I’m not pre diabetic – just have a sugar addiction. I also think I may be gluten intolerant. This and wanting to lose the middle aged spread are the reasons I’m doing this eating plan. It’s just I can’t see me being able to do without baked goods for the rest of my life!
-
cwright replied 1 year ago
i dont’ wanna live without baked goods forever either…but ideally i’d love to keep them just to one day …something like that.

Blueberry Muffins (basic and advanced plan)

preheat oven to 350
line six cupcake pan with aluminum or silicone cupcake cups for large muffins or use 12 standard cupcakes and spray with olive oil
1 cup almond meal (Trader Joe’s has this)
