Diet & Nutrition 1 year ago slightly confused over a couple things…doing the basic program. wondering how many times i can eat something like quinoa per day? i am thinking it is once. however, it would be nice- for me- to eat it twice. eggs make me sick for breakfast. and i’m not really at the point where i’m craving a salad for breakfast yet.
any thoughts?

Try the protein shakes in the back of the book in the recipes part. I had my first one yesterday, and another one today! They are a little different than what I thought they would taste like, but I found them both to be extremely satisfying once I got used to the different texture. And you can cram all kinds of delicious things in them! I tried the first two in the book, but I used almond milk instead of the water…way good! I’m going to try the third variation tomorrow!
Ditto what Nicole said. I love having the shakes for breakfast. They are very satifying and full of great nutrition.
I would think you could have it twice following the 1/2 plate low carb veggies, 1/4 higher carb (your quinoa) and 1/4 lean meats. How do you cook it, I’ve never had it. Donna
Donna if you are asking how you cook quinoa, it’s pretty easy. If you just make it by itself take one part quinoa, 2 parts water, put in a sauce pot together, bring to a boil, cover and reduce heat to low for 15 minutes. Last night I made the recipe from BSS book for quinoa with kale and almonds and followed his directions exactly and it turned out fine.
I asked my store to see if they can get it. I look forward to getting it.
I was having the same problem the first couple of weeks and I am on the advanced plan. Eggs make me sick in the am also. So I do agree with the others. I do a shake or I also found chia seeds and I mix them with hemp milk and they bubble up and have the texture of tapioca pudding. Also, I find that I stomach meat/ chicken in the am much better. So sometimes I’ll have a shake and a couple of pieces of chicken that I save from the dinner the night before or If I have time I just saute a couple of chicken strips. I hope this helps.. I feel for you..
thanks Paolita
