Hi cynthia – All sweeteners including natural and artificial are banned for the 6 wk program. This has been a hard thing for me. I have noticed how much sweeter the berries taste now and even when I have a small snack of raw almonds they have a very pleasant sweetness to them. Maybe that was the whole point?

I have added honey to my green tea with the understanding that it must be OK since one of the recipes calls for honey. Am I wrong? Am I to forgo honey for the 6 weeks as well? Thanks!

Oh dear, I guess technically yes we should forego the honey. I do make the blueberry muffins that call for 1 Tbs. of honey and that is distributed in my case over 8 muffins. I think the recipe says it makes 6 but my foil cups are full with 8. That pretty much leaves just a trace of honey in each muffin. It hasn’t slowed me down progress wise. …[Read more]

Cynthia, did you see the recipes group link in this community? It’s located on the top right side of this page (green in color) and says ”Delicious Recipes”. You’ll find many on-plan recipes. Eliminating all sweeteners does get easier; and as Barb pointed out, the natural sweetness of other foods permitted on the plan tend to emanate from them…[Read more]

Diet & Nutrition 1 year, 1 month agoI am hoping to get healthy and get my weight under control. I have gained around 20 pounds in the last year while trying to lose weight.

I had given up on ever being able to lose weight again. I even gave all my smaller clothes away. I had tried every diet that came down the pike and never could sustain being on them. I usually lasted about a week before I caved in. I also never tried giving up sugar, sugar substitutes, coffee, and alcoholic drinks. ( I adore cosmos!). Now…[Read more]

Easier if everyone is doing it with you, that’s for sure. When I started several weeks ago, my coworkers just didn’t understand. Now, I thnk I have them well-trained and they are much more respectful of my diet choices and no longer try to encourage me to eat any “forbidden”foods. They are all even starting to eat out less and have more…[Read more]
I see this domino effect happening at work also….very nice to see! I think everyone can benefit in some way from this way of eating. Good luck in getting your husband on board cynthia. Janine is right. It’s alot easier sharing with those closest to us.
I agree that when my partner wants an ice cream it really puts me in a bind. She tantalizes me into thinking i should go get us both ice cream and she doesnt understand that i cant get myself ice cream but also not even get her an ice cream cone. I tell her to do what ever she wants but dont include me.
I guess we all have to learn coping mechanisms for how to be around our friends and family and their food choices. I’m sure it’s an adjustment for them getting used to our abrupt changes in eating habits as well. I think a conversation about your feelings might help so that you two can come to an understanding.
