In reply to: jrhs posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition Bought some almond butter to enjoy with my morning celery sticks and I have to say it is delicious. I will have to keep myself away from this natural nut […] ViewI bought some Almond butter and find it has a very dry taste/feel. The flavour itself is nice but hard to enjoy.

JANINE replied 1 year, 1 month ago
If you leave it at room temperature, it will have a smoother texture. If the oil and nut butter seperate, then the texture will feel “dry”. Find some fresh ground almond butter at a health food grocers or in the health food department of your grocery store. I have bought the commercial almond butters and found them to be exactly as you…[Read more]

In reply to: Lisa posted an update in the group Stress I have the big stressors going on in my life. I lost my job and had to move in with my parents. Working on getting healthy adds to that stress but one thing I realize is […] ViewHi Lisa, so many issues can certainly cause stress. I lost my partner last year and it was like I (or everyone else) was on another planet. I am lucky that my work collegues were fantastic and such a support. I agree tho that we have to look after ourselves and be healthy in mind and body together, one without the other simply wont work.

Diet & Nutrition 1 year, 1 month agoOk, so I had a great day at work, had some tomato & salmon on rice cakes for lunch, then why did i have to have the cheesecake for dessert after dinner tonight??? But OMG did it taste horrible! I wont go back there in a hurry thats for sure. It is amazing how your taste buds change in such a short amount of time.

I crave sugar most after a meal. When I mentioned this my Mark, my husband, he suggested it might be because my body still expects to have a heavy carb load during a meal and when it doesn’t get it, I crave it. I am in week 3 and I don’t have those cravings, or at least I don’t notice them so much. I think my body is adjusting.

JANINE replied 1 year, 1 month ago
I sometimes drink a cup of green or white tea after my lunch or dinner meals. That seems to help with those sugar cravings.

Stress 1 year, 1 month agoI have just found a local group that has Tai Chi classes. Has anyone tried this? It always looks so calming when you see people doing it.

Yes, and it’s fabulous! Don’t worry about what you look like doing it – just focus on your own movements and you’ll be great.

My goodness your friend has had a difficult time. I agree that changing diet and lifestyle is definately a much better option. I find that i can stay on track for a few days and then have a craving – i try not to give in but i am easily led. I must be much more assertive with myself.

Good for you for your perseverance! I hope you are “rewarding” yourself for every temptation you pass up – be it an evening walk, a mini-massage or time to sit down with a good book. Sometimes I have to call up a friend or family member to distract me through the temptation but it works.
Are you keeping a food journal? That little exercise can…[Read more]

Hello from a fellow community member.
Milk thistle weed, if I recall correctly, is used for fatty liver but it will need to be taken in combination with the other metabolism and detox supplements for optimal results.
“Can you tell me if this eating plan is good for this?” Dr. H. speaks about fatty liver frequently in his patient testimonials…[Read more]

Diet & Nutrition 1 year, 1 month agoThe Doc’s breakfast shake says to use unsweetend hemp milk, this is not available in Australia yet as with other hemp products (or so the lady at the health shop says). What other sort of milk is good to use? Currently i use unsweetend rice milk on my muslie.

Linda Tyler replied 1 year, 1 month ago
You can use unsweetened almond milk.. It’s pretty good..

Janet Brown replied 1 year, 1 month ago
Almond or hazelnut milk is good if you don’t want to use soy milk. Alpro make them in the UK.

Stress 1 year, 1 month agoMy stress is related to the death of my partner last year, just when i feel that I am handling it all ok, i come tumbling down again. This ”makes” me eat and drink such lovely comfort food, hopefully with my pantry now rid of the frankenfoods, my body and mind will heal together.

Recipes 1 year, 1 month agoHi to the Team and the Doc, I have only just bought and read the book and read a few of the recipes on line here. I could make my own list of conversions but it would be easier for everyone to read if it was…[Read more]

I agree with that but the easiest way is to buy a set of cup measures in a cook shop. They come in a set of 4 from 1 cup down to a quarter cup.

Hi, Some of us are not loosing the weight we expect. Are you on the basic BSS plan? Perhaps you need to follow the advanced plan. If you need help with portion control PGX capsules have helped me a lot.
Are you getting any positive health results? Those can help keep you motivated.
Good Luck, Margaret
