Diabesity / Diabetes 9 months, 1 week ago ? about the food emergency pack: Has anyone else finished watching Dr. H’s recent email/video showing how he stocks his food emergency pack?
I really believe in what he is doing because I am seeing good results but have to admit that I laughed toward the end when he was actually putting items in his pack. Such a guy way to do things! I’m wondering Where is his can opener for the salmon? How does he store partially opened cans of sardines? Where is his fork? Eggs & peppers????
It reminded me more of packing day picnics when my kids were little — as opposed to an actual food emergency pack. Does that make sense?
Does anyone here actually stock a food emergency kit? How do you do it? The best I’ve been able to do is keep a stock of almonds in my purse at all times. Dr. H is right when he says that it will get you through being hungry. I’m just not seeing how I can realistically expand my pack to include some of the items he recommends.

The type of emergency pack I carry depends on how long I am going to be out and where I’m going to be. I always have some almonds or cashews to nibble on and a few pieces of dried fruit. Usually prunes so that if I go low I have ready a piece of fruit. These days if I m going to be gone for past a Mel I bring a sald with my complete with a little cup of olive oil. This will have a bunch of different vegetables in it. I also like to bring snap peas to crunch on and of couse water and more water.
Almonds and water for me too. It sounds like a good idea to carry other items, I might try it.
Some sardine cans open with a key you remove from the top of the can and roll back the metal to open it. I don’t know if salmon does that too.
A guy (or a hungry gal) could probably polish off a whole tin in an emergency. . .
Ha! Excellent observation Eileen! I think if you connect all of the loose ends you can make those things work. For example, I also keep almonds in my bag. If I know I’ll be in a situation that requires a little more ’fuel’, I bring sardines and a plastic baggie with disposable fork and napkin! Thanks for the posts ladies and keep up the excellent work. You really are health warriors!
