Weight & Obesity 1 year ago Starting 5th week of advanced program. Have not lost an ounce in over 2 weeks. The only cheat I had was an extra cup of berries yesterday (with nuts) because I am getting so discouraged. Lost 5lbs first week. 3 the second week. Now nothing. Thought it was tomatoes that I hadn’t had the first 2 weeks. So cut them out but nothing.
Have gone over all my food and I am 100% spot on. Have never eaten so much salad in my life. Have discovered aged balsamic vinegar for salad dressing which I love.
Any ideas? Oh and am also doing water aerobics 2x week so no it is not muscle.

Your loss so far is pretty good. Have you taken measurements? Being active you could be exchanging for muscle. I talked my coworkers into walking during our breaks and i too didnt show any losses for the first few weeks, but my pants were getting baggy as anything. I found for me I had to cut nuts out as my snack (grrrrr), so now I keep green, red peppers, celery, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes ready to go at my desk when I need a snack. I know there is not much talk in the book about calories, try something like http://www.fitday.com and see how any calories your taking in….too few can also stall you. Still your’re doing great, slow and steady will win every time!
Yes, after the initial 6 weeks and having let go of 17 pounds, I’ve gone back up one and have been holding there for about a week. For me I’m sure the next step is finding some activity I enjoy and will do regularly and with pleasure!
Also, I’ve been doing the hypnosis recordings Dr. Hyman recommended to help keep motivation up. Have only done it a few times but seems to be helping now that I’m moving into the second 6 weeks on advanced plan.
Love to all of us! Anna
Susan, losing 8 lbs has certainly been in the right direction, but I understand being disappointed when the progress each week doesn’t show on the scale. I felt the same way! I added saunas like it states on page 294 in the BBS book for toxic overload and it helped. I continue to lose about a lbs every 3 or 4 days. I also swim and do at least a little walking every day. I am on the Advanced Plan and would like to see the dramatic loss I had the first week but remind myself, often, that slow and steady is good. Hang in there!
Hi, Susan,
After reading several posts here, it seems to me that many of us have hit a temporary plateau. Since we are all eating a very healthy diet, I doubt this lull will last for long. (I have tried drinking loads more water and I am trying to encourage myself in other ways, like with the losses measured in inches, or by trying on (and buying) smaller size clothes.) Hang in there. Your body has to aclimate itself to your new, smaller size. BTW, you are so right about balsamic vinegar. I love the stuff, too.
Thanks for the input ladies. Glad to see I’m not the only one with plateaus. I do think I have not been eating enough. So keeping better track today.
HI, Susan,
Did you ever think you would see the day when you worried about not eating ENOUGH?! That is surely the sign of a healthy eating trend!
Hi Susan, These plateaus do happen to most of us. They can last for weeks. It might help you to remember just why you are eating this way, Your Improving Health. With that thought in mind, it will be easier to continue with the plan. The weight will come off. You have lost more than a pound a week on average! If you continue at that pace in one year you will be 60#s lighter!! That is a big deal. Good luck and continue to improve your very precious health, Margaret
I am having the same exact problem!!!! and even in the exact week!! You dont know how encouraging it is to hear someone else is having the same problem. i thought I was doing something seriously wrong. Specially cause I started eating berries during and the weight loss stopped completely. I am try to push myself at the gym a little harder, but it really does not seem to want to come off. I feel like I am fiting against my body and I dont know what to do any suggestions? I go to the gym every day and do 30 minutes on the cross trainer then alternate an ab workout, an arm workout and a stretching every three days. Any suggestions on what to add or what to take away?
I am really thinking to take the berries away, but I have been noticing that I am getting sugar cravings more often since I started eating them.
