    Survived a second day without diet coke. However, I’m very irritable and stressed. It is not caffeine withdrawal, I get plenty of caffeine from the green tea. I think it is due to detox/withdrawal from the aspertame. Any suggestions for getting through this? I was only having 1 diet coke/day. this is the point where my husband usually says just go buy one of the #!@%* diet cokes!!

    • Hi Barbara, be strong and get through it. For a treat, go to Trader Joe’s or where ever and get a dark chocolate bar (at least 70%) and have a SMALL nibble. See if that takes the edge off. I was in a foul mood this morning and had a postage size piece of chocolate and things turned around for me. That or a bit of caffein would be better than giving in to the artificial sweetener thing. i am sure someone around your house will scarf up the rest of the chocolate if you are worried about temptation sitting around!       • Yeah, I’ll have to have my husband hide it or have him eat it up! I have no will power when it comes to these things. It is a good suggestion though, and might help. I always crave chocolate when stressed, that’s how I gained a lot of weight over the past year! I like those little chocolate ”bites” when I can find them, the ones that are just a square of chocolate in a wrapper – perfect portion size! My sister just mailed me a 70% chocolate bar and some dark chocolate covered expresso beans. I’ll have my son lock up the beans for ”chocolate emergencies as I call them!
