Here’s my new favorite green smoothie :
5-6 beet greens (I remove the stems)
1/2 cucumber (the long skinny seedless – or nearly seedless kind) cut in 1/2 inch rounds & cut those in 1/2
1 small or 1/2 large avocado
2 stalks celery (cut in 1 inch pieces)
    1 tsp. dulse granules.
    handful of fresh parsley
enough water to blend to the consistancy you desire – start with 3/4 cup, add more as necessary
Blend well & enjoy! I start with the tougher items, like celery & blend that with the water & dulse, then gradually add the other ingredients. The avocado should be blended last. I take my PGX 15-30 minutes before I drink this, and have a few bites of protein before or after the drink. If you can’t drink the whole thing you can refrigerate the rest & have it later in the day.

    • This sounds good Barbara. What kind of blender are you using? Stay well, Margaret

      • I just have an Oster. It’s not the best, a Vitamix is on my wish list!

        • thanks, I was wondering if a blender chopped up celery and fiber laden vegetables. I was concerned about suggesting recipes that everyone could not execute.
I hope things are going well for you. Margaret

http://healthybodydaily.com/doctor-oz-giveaways/dr-oz-vitamix-blender-oz-get-healthy-in-2012-with-his-vitamix-giveaway I was looking at this also, you can make the veggie drinks and keep the fiber so your not spiking your blood sugar, I think we’ll see if we can sell our juicer and get one of these.

            • Donna, I use my blender way more than my juicer. Although, I’m keeping my juicer as I like to grow my own wheatgrass and juice that. I’ve seen demos of the Vitamix at Costco and on youtube. Costco tends to have the Vitamix only when they have the demos but it is $100 less there than I’ve seen anywhere else. The green smoothie is my breakfast of choice! Now that I’ve added them back in I have fewer cravings, the scale is starting to budge again etc. They can be made with a regular blender but it does require more prep and is slower.

              • Hi Barbara, You can look online and Costco lists all the special events for months, so if you are interested you can go when the vitamix event is i town. Stay well, Margaret
