I have Type 2 diabetes and finally went to an endocrinologist. She felt that I’d been diagnosed so young (32) that it was possible I actually have Type 1. The labs got back today, and next to the results for Glutamic Acid Decarb Antibody, she wrote, “you do have type 1 diabetes–will start mealtime insulin next visit.” I’m totally confused.…[Read more]

    • Hi Heartash – Sorry to hear your news. I was diagnosed with type 1 after being very ill and was put on insulin – mealtime and 2x a day long lasting novolin several years ago. Since then they have changed the diagnosis to type 2 because I started producing insulin again. No enough to make it through the day but enough for them to change the…[Read more]

    • Just saying Hi! I remember you! You were one of the first people I commented on when I first began this program 10 and 1/2 months ago. Good to see you again! Hope all is well, with the exception of just finding out that you are now diagnosed with Type I diabetes. I lost 30 pounds and improved all my numbers. Loving this answer to my hopes and prayers. Hi Carla, awesome that you’re ready for this. I did the advanced plan for 3 months. Now I’m starting with carbs again but it’s been really hard, and proof again that I, like you, have a mostly unhealthy relationship with food. The Blood Sugar Solution was really a jumping off point for me to address my type 2 diabetes. I was able to go off my…[Read more]

Is anyone here under 40? I started with a dietitian last week who specializes in diabetes. She said, “You’re awfully young to have diabetes.” I was like, um yeah, I’ve heard that one, thanks. Could she have really been that surprised? I mean there’s gotta be others like me… I know age doesn’t matter in how we are all supporting each other…[Read more]

Just got my A1c results after 3 months of the BSS– 7.1! When I started it was 12! I would say that’s a pretty big accomplishment. I haven’t begun an exercise routine yet, because whenever I work out my chronic hives get way worse. So if I start with mild walks, the hives should be fine and I can hopefully get off the rest of the medication…[Read more]

    • Congratulation. What a dramatic difference on your A1C. Start with 5 minute or 10 minute walk and ad a little more time as you feel better. three months with your new lifestyle that’s really something to be proud about too. I’m at day 7 of week 4 today.

Friday June 29th I’ll have completed 9 weeks of the Blood Sugar Solution. Then on July 3rd I get my bloodwork done for the first time since I began. Based on my glucose readings these days (90-120), I’m not expecting my A1c to read at a non-diabetic level. They are not totally down to what they should be but they are very close. I want to have a…[Read more]

I know you’ll succeed in reaching your weight and medical goals by following the BSS, because you “want to do this more than I’ve wanted anything else”. That’s what it takes! I think Dr. Hyman should sponsor a retreat for us. :) I’'d be interested in the Skype idea, also not sure I’d want to organize it though. I believe you have to pay for Group Skype video. On Google+ there is a group video option, I think, but anyone who wanted to participate would have to get a Google+ acct.
