In reply to: Jaime LeQuire posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition Has anyone heard of ”sucanat” as a sweetener? I’m wondering if this is an acceptable substitute to sugar? Is there an acceptable sugar […] ViewHi Jaime, If you goodle on Yahoo under sucanat you will learn that it is an unrefined form of cane sugar which contains less sucrose than white sugar because it still has the molasses in it.. The only sugar substiture that I have found that is acceptable is Stevia which is a natural sweetener from South America.

In reply to: Yvonne Kochanowski posted an update in the group Weight & Obesity Went to my first dinner out event last night – a winemaker’s dinner (part of my job) and was able to successfully avoid wine and foods that were on […] ViewYesterday my weight was down 3 lbs., today it is up 2 lbs. It is water loss and retention that makes the sudden changes. I can see that for the long haul. I cannot focus only on the daily up and down but what it is at the end of a week.

In reply to: Donna posted an update in the group Recipes Some one asked for the microwave muffin’s I just ran across it, here it is: mike4 posted an update in the group Recipes 1 week, 3 days ago Looking for a bread/muffin fix […] ViewWhat would be the baking time if they were put in a confection oven instead of the microwave?
-
Donna replied 1 year ago
I didn’t make this recipe so I could only guess, I’d think 7 to 15 min.s but having not made it I don’t know. I’d do the microwave one first and then you’ll have a good idea what it looks like when its done.

Any support I can get will be very appreciated. I would like to give […] ViewI agree, getting motivated when you are down is difficult because I have been there. But the hope of improved health and a better quality of life begins one day at a time. These community sites are also inspirational and encouraging. Like Dr. Hyman says in his book, if we just cut out sugar and white flour we will go along way to improving our…[Read more]

In reply to: Hailey posted an update in the group Depression So my family got the whole package from pbs from this program. I have always eaten well and healthy. I drink over 8 glasses of water a day, i drink green and red […] ViewHi Hailey, I agree with hawaiiBarbara that you need to balance your blood sugar and this diet would do that. hypoglycemia is low blood sugar and it is balanced by eating protein with every meal and snack. My granddaughter was hypoglycmic from not balancing her blood sugar. That is the next step to diabeties from what I have been reading in the…[Read more]

In reply to: Jack M posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition I’m a little confused. Are legumes on or off the advanced diet list? ViewI disagree with Janine when she says that legumes are banned if you are on the advanced plan. Page 193 of The Blood Sugar Solution in #5 at the top of the page lists what to avoid and it does not include legumes (lentils and beans.) These are starch but they are also protein. I have in past avoided legumes because I thought they were too much…[Read more]

In reply to: kbsaved posted an update in the group Weight & Obesity Hi Everybody this it I am an old fat guy that needs to apply the principles of this program and this has been on the WTTW in Chicago public TV and made sense […] ViewSusie, that is wonderful news. I am looking forward to the day when I will be normal again and not have overwhelming cravings for sugar foods. I have weight to lose but also have to keep my blood sugar down. I am just starting the program and already I see how my blood sugar has come down. Have you gone gluten free?
-
Susie replied 1 year ago
Hi Ivy – Yes I have gone completely gluten free. The book recommends it and I feel much better without it. I do think the biggest part for me was the sugar. It is in everything. I really didn’t know how dependent I was on sugar until I cut it out cold turkey. Good for you having your blood sugar lowered. Those results will come, hang in there!!!

Holy Cow I took the quiz for the supplements and the total cost for the bill was $829.95 for one month, Dr. Hyman I feel shocked and taken advantage of this is a complete outrage. I have heard of amazing schemes but is there a way I can get these supplements at a reasonable price where I will not go broke ….. I am very disappointed………….

Hi, Ivy,
Those ups and downs can drive you crazy. I step on the scale every day to make sure I am drinking plenty of water to flush out excess fluids and to make sure I stay on plan.
