    • My nutritionist in my endocrinologist’s office had been very helpful to me many months ago when she had explained that if I wanted to have a salad for lunch for example, that I could simply not take insulin prior to that particular meal–as I would not need it. Until then, I think I incorrectly thought that I simply had to have carbs with 3 meals a day, no matter what. I feel like this is what the American Diabetes Association has been pushing–and nutritionists trained with their methods. How ludicrous an approach–to think that people who can’t handle high glycemic carbs should just take meds to deal with their reaction to that food, instead of simply changing the food! I am so disappointed and angry that most doctors are not promoting changes to lifestyle more aggressively, and in a helpful way.
