I was trying to find a substitute for mayonnaise when I remembered seeing some recipes for tofu mayo. Think I’ll try one that deletes sugar..just to see @bevpearson

    • Good luck, Jane. Also, mashed avocado sometimes does the trick. Mustard is an interesting substitute too. ’Depends on the accompaniments.

In reply to: bevpearson posted an update in the group Migraine & Headaches Hi, I’m a Newbie to all this, just trying to find my footing. I’m diagnosed as MAV–Migraine Associated Vertigo, which in my case consists of an […] View

Bev, I have occasional migraines, too, but I suspect I’m holding tension in my shoulders that translates up into the back of my neck/head. Do you think the BSS program might help with your inner ear issues? By the way, I think your profile picture might be passiflora incarnata…gorgeous flowering passion flower vine…yes?

    • Hi, Jane. Yes, my profile picture is my Maypop/Passionflower vine. I love my plant. It reminds me of my childhood–there was one growing itself out by my Grandpa’s barn and every summer I would go check on how it was doing. It makes a little fruit, the maypop, that is edible, but difficult to time ripeness on.

      I didn’t see anything in the…[Read more]

      • Oh, the ”special” thing about the MAV–migraine associated vertigo–is that the migraine is expressed more typically as vertigo instead of a headache, and the vertigo lasts longer. So I wind up lying on the couch (it qualifies as an activity if you have vertigo, since you can lie still and feel the earth rotate!) for a week or so.

Good point. Nice to branch out to unusual tastes with exotic, foreign dishes.

I’m wondering if I’ll ever be able to get off the hormone replacement therapy. I began it in 1994. I’m now age 66 and in spite of efforts to taper down two years ago, the hot flashes were ridiculous–sheet-soaking, sleep-depriving hot flashes. Will the new regimen help in time?

    • I’m not sure about this plan’s relationship to hot flashes, but I’ve definitely been there/done that with the HRT. I had an early (40) on-set menopause, took my estrogen for 12 years. An estrogen-positive breast tumor made me discontinue HRT. Here’s what I learned–the HRT just post-pones the symptoms. I went through the whole array of…[Read more]
