Inflammation 3 months, 2 weeks agoHi, I just joined and have been reading this site ever since o saw Dr. Hyman on Dr. Oz show. I have been on the “Eat to live” diet from Dr. Furman since past June. Found out that gluten has been the sole cause of my extreme gut problem all on my own. My homocysteine was high and I searched on Web MD for cause. Got so much better after 2 weeks.…[Read more]

Inflammation 3 months, 2 weeks agoHi I am new to this group and just started reading the book. I have osteo arthritis in my hips (which have both been replaced), my knees and my feet. No doctor has ever asked why this keeps attacking more and more of my joints. That is why I am here. I would be interested in hearing any thoughts or experience from folks with osteo arthritis?

Inflammation 3 months, 3 weeks agoI have had Crohn’s disease since I was 18 years old and I’m 53 now. It got so bad five years ago, August, that I couldn’t eat anything but broth for about 2 months! And I was in the hospital every 2 months, like clockwork, with a blocked intestine. Finally I had an operation. But not a single doctor would tell me what to eat and what to avoid.…[Read more]

Hi Afi, Great results for you. What plan did you follow, advanced or basic? How long did this take to reverse? Are you still reintroducing foods?
Blessings, Margaret-
afi replied 3 months, 3 weeks ago
Good morning, Margaret!
I’m not not diabetic, so I follow the basic plan. I felt better already after about 10 days into the diet. I must say that I have gone on and off, because of social situations and so on. But every time I go off, I can immediately feel it. My Crohn’s symptoms come back: I become bloated, I get stomach discomfort and…[Read more]-

Hi Afi, You are wise to realize that your good results may not happen for everyone. We are all different. We share our stories so that they might help others.
It can take a long time fro healing to occur with diet changes, but it is worth the wait. I have just started my 11th month on BSS and still see new things improving.
Eventually you will…[Read more]

That’s great news, Afi. How long have you been on the BSS plan?

Hello Vimal,
Thank you, yes, that’s really good news for me, because I have really suffered with Crohn’s for so many years. I have been on the basic plan, on and off, for about 3 months.
I have promised myself that from February 1st, I’ll stick to it for the long haul.
However, even when I go off for some reason or another, there are basic…[Read more]-

Wow, your symptoms went away completely in just 3 months!! I can see why you want to be on the plan fo the long haul. It’s such a shame that you have to figure this out for yourself, and that the medical community hasn’t caught on yet. Good luck with passing on the news of your success to your doctor, hope (s)he tells other patients about the…[Read more]

Inflammation 4 months agoI have a lifetime history of inflammation, ever since I was a young child. Been using the BSS diet for 10 months now. I’ve tried gluten-free diet twice and dairy-free diet 3-4 times with little change. I’ve had pleasant victories along the way (no longer use asthma medications) but suffer from chronic sinusitis and experienced a miserable…[Read more]

Welcome Dalva _ I have been on the advanced plan since July. I have just read Dr Furman’s book and have been eating less/hardly any animal protein for the past two weeks in hopes that I can get off insulin and lose the last 27 lbs that I would like to lose to get me to 120 lbs. I have remained dairy and gluten free since July . I really admire…[Read more]
Hi Nicole, I feel envious for your weight loss. My health problems list is long and complicated but you can get the gist from what I have written. I’m at my wits end right now because I’m doing a lot for my health but don’t seem to see much progress. My weight gain has had me intrigued. Well, I’m going to try to get some sleep now. That is…[Read more]
Dalva – just the fact you have had to double your insulin dosage is probably what has caused your weight gain. When ever I have to increase my dosage or if I end up taking fast acting insulin to bring things down at a meal time or before bed time . I am greeted with a higher weight the next morning. Since you have quit eating gluten what have you…[Read more]
Hi Nicole, me again. I wrote you a long note this morning but it bounced back… Don’t know why. You are right about insulin causing fat deposit. I was skinny all my life until 1998 when my pancreas started to be destroyed and I had to start on insulin. I’m now about 30 lbs overweight and cannot lose the weight. I took the thyroid test on this…[Read more]
Dalva you have to click on the link at the bottom and respond to the emails you get on line…can’t hit reply in your emailer to respond. You will find with time what you will need to do to get your blood sugars down and then as you are able to reduce your insulin dosages the weight will start coming off . Are you using the PGX or some other…[Read more]
Not feeling too good today. Went to my Pilates class but forgot my oxygen and had to comeback home. Brain fog…having incredible cravings. Nicole, no I’m not taking PGX. Didn’t even know what it was but I looked into it and will consider it. Thanks for the tip. Just took a long walk with Lilly, my doggy, she is a Yorkshire Terrier, and she is…[Read more]
There are several fiber supplements . I take Unicity Slim -G which especially for diabetics . Janine and Margaret take something else that is less expensive than PGX. It may help you out. The brain fog will clear up too . I think a lot better since my sugar levels have stabilized and I no longer suffer from big siwings in sugar levels. Lily sounds…[Read more]
