I’m afraid so. Goat cheese is definitely dairy.

JANINE replied 11 months, 2 weeks ago
The peppers are totally great, but no dairy. This is to eliminate possible sources of inflammation in your body.

Weight & Obesity 11 months, 3 weeks agoHello…. i just got my BP and Blood Sugar checked and all are in normal ranges. I consider myself well overweight though…. last year at this time i was 225… currently 265lbs. Should I do the basic or advanced plan?

Refer to chapter 17 (pgs. 172-183) in the book which provides pertinent information as to which plan you should follow. Also, be sure to take the Diabesity Quiz, beginning on page 176.

You can also take the quizzes on this site, and it will store the results for you. If you’re logged in, scroll and click “My Profile”. Once that page loads, you will see a variety of buttons and links. Look for “My Quizzes” and click on that.
The LAST quiz on the list tells you what plan to do.
The first quiz (which I believe Susan…[Read more]

The Diabesity Quiz, which is the one I mentioned above (pages 176-79 of the book), actually tells you whether you should be on the basic or advanced plan. A score of 1-7 indicates mild diabesity (basic plan) and a score of 8+ indicates moderate to severe diabesity (advanced plan). When I first took the quiz, I scored 27 so it was definitely the…[Read more]

In reply to: jimjohnsonhph posted an update in the group Weight & Obesity Hello…. started day one today. Not really sure the difference between this and Atkins. Still reading the book. Lots of good things on the site. Is […] ViewThanks for your help! I appeciate it… Im a newbie for sure. I am ”officially” starting on June 1st but figured id get a few days head start to work out the kinks. How should I determine if I should go on the advanced or regular plan? I tried low to no carb before but got real light headed…. I swim and bike alot. Thanks again for all your help!

nikwdhmos replied 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Usually the lightheadedness should not be terribly extreme on BSS, and even on Atkins it should go away inside of two weeks. It’s usually a symptom of dehydration or running out of electrolytes (aka, “salt” — easily found in pickles, for instance). Very likely if you’re exercising.
If you’re doing A LOT of biking/swimming, like for a half…[Read more]

Weight & Obesity 11 months, 3 weeks agoThanks James… do you see anything different between this and Atkins? Are you a coffee drinker? Not sure I can give up the caffeine. But I did relate to the 5 cups in the morning to pump me up and then the two glasses of wine in the evening to slow me down.

nikwdhmos replied 11 months, 3 weeks ago
Psst, I listed some differences between this and atkins in a reply below. BTW, coffee was pretty tough for me. That and fake sugars were my big addictions.

Weight & Obesity 11 months, 3 weeks agoHello…. started day one today. Not really sure the difference between this and Atkins. Still reading the book. Lots of good things on the site. Is this a good site for accountability? Would you all recommend some where else for that instead?
-
I reckon that a recommendation for any new attempt or challenge is best made by telling of the results of one who has made such an attempt…or at least a start of an attempt. I’ve not begun the program yet (my start date is June 1) but have begun to read a chapter in The Blood Sugar Solution every morning. My wife has read ahead and has begun…[Read more]

yep, it’s a good place for accountability. If you do Atkins correctly (which very few do), the differences are not that huge — one of the most important is that artificial sweeteners — ALL of them, including splenda, xylitol (sugar alcohols) and even natural ones like Stevia ARE OUT. This is a big thing. Also, another big thing — meats are to…[Read more]

Hi, Jim,
You have come to the best place to achieve your health goals. You are accountable only to yourself, but you will get the most amazing support and encouragement from everyone on this website. When I speak about accountability, I made a promise to myself a little over 6 weeks ago that I would follow the plan, doing without coffee,…[Read more]
