JANINE posted an update in the group
Weight & Obesity 11 months, 2 weeks ago The last two mornings I have been able to do something I was unable to do for decades. I have risen, dressed, and immediately headed out the door for my daily walk. No coffee, no tea, no sitting with the heating/massage pad, no sitting in my rocking chair for an hour until my lower back felt better. Straight out the door. I am almost ashamed of how I was before the BSS. I bought a rocking chair to take me into my older years. I accepted the miserable pain and stiffness that I faced each morning, and took more naproxen pain relievers than I wanted, but couldn’t live without. I am glad my blood sugar rose and my blood pressure went to high. The nightly thirst and more frequent trips to the bathroom saved my life, because I knew time was running out. I am so thankful Dr. Hyman wrote Blood Sugar Solution and I am so glad I found it. And I am really glad that it works so beautifully!!!

Janine – How wonderful are all those extra ”perks” that can be attributed to good nutrition. This program is the best. I’m so happy for you!!!
Janine Great Job. I love my rocker too. I usually use for stress relief. I’m so encouraged your feeling so much better. I’m dealing with fatigue and morning fogginess. I guess this is what detox. feels like. Or on a brighter side how early healing must feel. My body didn’t get this way over night.
Hi, Elaine,
I don’t remember how long you have been at it, but there will come a point in about week 2 or 3 when this all becomes second nature and your body feels fantastic.
Thanks Janine, today is a bit better. I appreciate the encouragement . Today I was at the grocery and it seemed as though every sweet thing and diet coke I passed was calling to me. I laughed and walked away.
Elaine,
Glad you are doing better. Each day it really gets a lot better and easier. Cravings will vanish before you know it.
Janine, that’s fabulous!
That is wonderful Janine. I am encouraged by your comments as I am just starting reading The Blood Sugar Solution book and finally got on this community stie. I tried several days ago and was so frustrated when I could not get on. I was just re-reading the book today where he stressed the importance of comminity support. I am glad that I am finally here. About ten years ago through another book I was alerted to the possibilty that I was insulint resistant which was the first time I even knew about blood sugar problems. I have tried a couple of diets since then since my doctor confirmed that I was glucose intolerant/insulin resistant. I am grateful for what I learned since then but the diets I tried have not helped me to overcome my craving for sugar. The last two days I have found that my craving has dropped by adding beans to my diet when I felt I needed to eat. I don’t like cooking for myself since I lvie alone but I am working on that too.
Thanks agian for staying with your diet so your quality of living has improved. That is my desire too.
Hi, Ivy,
I am completing my 8th week + 3 weeks prep, so 11 weeks overall. I picked up my book again and reread it all the way through. I am trying to make certain that I am following the eating plan as precisely as I can. I saw that I need about 3 more supplements and will check those out this weekend.
I, also, tried changing my lifestyle on my own, and had some success, but could never get to my goal. This eating plan has made it possible for me to reach new weight-loss lows that I haven’t seen in 23 years, thanks to the cessation of cravings. The complete elimination of all type sugars is really helping me with my incredibly difficult sugar addiction. Now that I have finished the first 6 weeks, I see that some foods are permissable, like dark chocolate, but I am going to refrain until I have reached my weight loss goal, which is another 65 pounds (that sounds so good because it was 100 pounds to lose when I began!), because I don’t want to sabatage my hard work.
I love eating beans and red lentils and have incorporated them into my eating plan and you know how filling the fiber is from legumes. They make eating less so much easier.
I am glad that you, too, found this wonderful way of eating/living. It is saving lives.
You know, when I read the recommendations about community support, I dismissed it completely. I don’t even remember what compelled me to log onto the website and join in, but I have found the group support invaluable. Checking in, giving words of support, hearing about what others are experiencing, and voicing my own concerns, or triumphs, has made this journey so much easier. It is second only to the perfect eating plan in helping drive our own successes and keeping us moving forward.
IJanine, I am so thankful for those doctors like Dr. Hyman and others who have written books and been visible on public T.V. to show us the causes of our illnesses and give us information that is doable to change our lifestyle to improve out quality of life. You have come a long way in improviing your health. I have only as much to lose as you have already lost. keep up the good work. I don’t know if I am in the preparation phase or the first week but you have encouraged me to continue.
Hi Janine – I couldn’t agree more. I thought to myself I don’t need that but logged in and signed up anyway. Then I started giving support to others and receiving it back in return. I really look forward to coming here to see how everyone is doing. The support is wonderful for me too!
