JANINE posted an update in the group
Diet & Nutrition 11 months, 1 week ago Dr Hyman’s piece about 10 reasons to give up coffee has helped me fully understand why we were all asked to give up coffee while on the BSS, and the reasons go far beyond having more energy. Finally, I have the complete answer and can explain more fully to all those people who have asked. I am so glad he wrote that article. I had been wondering why, if greater energy was my only reward, I had to give up something I had enjoyed for ages. Now I know. Good read for all us former coffee lovers.

Hi Janine – I just read that too…it was very informative. I have still never given up the coffee completely and couldn’t really find an explanation in the BSS book that made his reasons clear enough for me. This article did it for sure. I do only drink one cup in the morning but now understand I really must give it up. I do not really like green tea. Any ideas anyone on your favorite teas? Does it matter if the teas have some caffeine?
Hi, Susie,
I used to drink double spice chai, a black tea with cinnamon and spices (no milk, despite the ”chai” name). It has twice the caffeine of green tea, but half the caffeine of coffee. I believe it is in decaf, too. I really love that tea, but for now, I am happy with my green tea. I learned to drink it, but I doubt I will ever love it.
I’ll occassionally make a green tea latté. I found a chai green tea loose leaf tea. I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk which can get frothy. It maks a nice treat that fits the BSS.
