Being 52 pounds lighter has made my daily walks so much easier. When I hit the sidewalks Sunday, I walked at a rapid pace and 3 miles later I was feeling great and energized. Normally, after rain days that keep me from getting out there, I walk a short walk, but I could have kept on going beyond 40 minutes.
My message to anyone trying to incorporate exercise into his/her routine is to keep it slow and steady and don’t stop. In time, the workouts will become easier and enjoyable. It surprises me but it is so true.

This is so true, Janine! I went three times last week and I just went today. I finished 4.5 miles in 65 minutes doing cardio, and I did 15 more minutes working muscle groups of my body. I actually enjoyed it today and feel like I want to play baseball or do something else just to keep active. I burned 430 calories and I feel awesome. Nice to know you are at 52 lbs lost. Yeah!! I am so inspired.
That’s amazing Janine and Melissa!!! You’re stories are an inspiration! Keep up the awesome work ladies
You do 3 miles in 40 minutes? My friend and I do 3.2 miles in 54 minutes and we are hoofing it! There are some hills involved so maybe that is the difference but I am impressed with you. Congrats on the 52 pounds! Yippee!!
Well, flat sidewalks all the way, thankfully. I used a pedometer to measure out the distance for each lap I make, but figuring out the pedometer is a bit tricky so I could be off in measurements. My walks are twice the length they once were and so much easier. They feel good. That’s the most amazing part.
I wear a pedometer too and use that for the time part of the walk but my steps measurement must be off because the pedometer says 2.8 miles but my friend had her husband measure with his auto and he got the 3.2. My pedometer measures several things, one of which is minutes walked without stopping. We used to take 58 or 59 minutes but have trimmed it down. I am also noticing that I am not dead now after my walk. I can still function and get things done after walking. Isn’t it great? Tomorrow is my weigh day.
I hear you about having more energy even after the workouts. It is wonderful to be able to do so many more things every day.
Today with all my running around and the 3.2 mile walk I didn’t even take a nap! Amazing!
