In reply to: Janet Brown posted an update in the group Recipes Where are the desserts? There must be some sort of recipe that is healthy and delicious apart from fruit. I miss bread a lot but find gluten free bread not good. View

    Hi Janet,
The cashews were raw. Just grab a couple of berries, and a cashew and munch away. They were delicious:)

    HI Janet,
I found something I just love for desert. And it was totally by accident! I was on the run one lunch time before Mother’s Day (getting mom a gift) and my friend had a box of fresh blueberries and a bag of raw cashews. Who’d have thought but I got a cup and poured half and half into it, shook it up and ate the mixed blueberries and…[Read more]

    • Hi Laury – did you cream the cashews or just eat them raw?

    Hi Tricia,
Wow, I made it and my niece and I loved it. In fact she liked it so much she’s made it twice since then:) I’m sorry you didn’t like it…I used natural (lightly salted) peanut butter if that helps..

Good evening all:) Tonight I tried sauteing Collard Greens like Dr. H’s recipe for Kale or swiss chard….note to self, it didn’t work out well:( I ate it because sometimes medicine doesn’t taste good, but I would love to get a recipe that worked for collard, mustard greens etc. Thanks!!

    • Hi Laury, The traditional italian way to fix the bitter greens is to saute in lots of olive oil with fresh garlic (do not burn the garlic).
I like to put vinegar or lime juice (a lot) on greens that have been sauteed with lots of sliced shallots, again in olive oil. Shallots look like garlic with light brown skins. They have a wonderful flavor…[Read more]

    • Use your greens in a green smoothie.

    • Hi, Laury. Collards will cook and tenderize pretty quickly if….you cut out the thick center stems and then stack the leaves up and julienne them. Did you try that? I like them that way with the olive oil and garlic, you can ”stir-fry” them so to speak.

Hi there.  I was walking on the treadmill at the gym on my lunch hour.  I turned to PBS and there was Dr. Hyman.  The Blood Sugar Solution had just started.  I watched as much as I could and then had to get […]

Lucky You! Exercise plus Dr. Hyman! I have never seen the PBS stuff (no cable) but I get his emails to watch on the computer. Helps with the motivation, right?!

    Hi Margaret,
Thank you for your reply:) I love the program. I love the food, and it really works. I have been eating on the program for 4 weeks and the first week, walking on the treadmill every day, I lost almost 12 pounds. I am 6’1 and can loose weight fast. I had no trouble until in the second week, I hurt my left knee. I was walking in…[Read more]

    • Hi Luary, Great post! I would make two small suggestions for your diabetes and success on this program. No wine and try almond milk in your evening decaf.
Good luck with your knee. The rest may help your body heal as you follow the BSS plan.
When your lab numbers improve, you will have to follow the basics of the plan to keep them low. Then you…[Read more]

Hello, I am new to this group, though I’ve been trying to eat on the program for about 4 weeks. Has anyone bought the supplements on their own (after reading the book BSS) and did you find that less expensive than buying the packaged supplements here? thanks:)

    • Hi Laury,
I did buy the Essential Wellness and magnesium from this site. The magnesium because there were just too many choices in the stores. The other supplements I was already taking or chose to buy on my own. If you are having a difficult time staying on the eating plan try the PGX capsules. They worked to curb my appetite in the beginning.…[Read more]

    • I was also taking some of the recommended supplements already and buy them from a reputable online source. I bought the PGX and the other supplements I did not have online at the same source. I got them for a fraction of the price as on here. They are not the same brands, except for the PGX.
