I have been reading the posts on hear and am so encouraged!!! Thank you. I am looking for a new Dr. As I begin this plan. I have read the book and have eliminated diet pop, sugar, flour, am reading labels, and following the recipes. I have had some low blood sugars so that has thrown me off but I am feeling wonderful. I am overweight but not…[Read more]

    • Hi Lynn, If you are looking for a doctor, be sure to check out the listing on the BSS site about locating a functional medicine practitioner. I think it is listed under MY Health Tools at the top of the page.
You are wise to work with a doctor so you can get off your medications properly.
If your weight is already under control your body will…[Read more]

    • Hi Lynn- Sounds like you are off to a great start! Yes – work with your Dr. absolutely. I experienced low BG in the 40’s around week 2 and it was scary – my Dr. was very supportive and responsive. Keep us posted on your progress! -Cathy Wk 10 Day 2

In reply to: Lynn Franko posted an update in the group Diabesity / Diabetes On my way out to dinner today with family. I have researched the menu and come up with a plan for what to eat today.i am beginning prep week one. Wish me luck!!! View

It went ok. I was able to order salmon and roasted asparagus. I did have a small amt. of brown rice-about a teaspoonful. But because we wear eating a little early for dinner I ended with low sugar. It just reinforced that I need to work with my doctor and a nutritionist. Thanks for your support .

    • Hi Lynn – I’m in week 8 and this program has changed my life in so many miraculous ways! Stick to it and you will be amazed! Keep us posted on your progress.

      • Hi Cathy, what specifically have you enjoyed the most in the changes you have experienced? I am on week 1 on teh prep weeks and so far I’m not really feeling it. I want to know when I can expect a breakthrough in energy, etc. Thanks and all the best.

    • I think that’s great that you researched the menu in advance. I did the same thing with a new local restaurant when I met a friend for lunch last weekend. It really helped me to know in advance that there were a couple of things I could order. How did it go for you?

I am half way through the book and am excited to start the program. My biggest concern is that due to my last A1C at 7.3 my doctor has increased my oral meds and I worry about lows. Currently I am taking Janumet and amaryl. I have had some recent lows and use the glucose tablets to raise my sugars. I am really motivated to get off this medicine…[Read more]

    • If you are concerned about your blood sugar levels dropping be sure to see your doctor and discuss that. They can tell you what to do in advance if your readings get too low. Margaret

      • Thanks Margaret. I plan to make an appt. with my doctor this week to go over this plan.

    • I hope your doctor–or a nutritionist that she or he recommends–will help you adjust the meds according to the food you are eating–not wait until you get “lows” from a low carb diet. I’ve had so many “lows” in the past, as a (formerly) insulin dependent diabetic. “Lows” are the worst feeling ever. I feel that they also contribute…[Read more]
