Diet & Nutrition 1 year ago I had a very strange day today. I woke up but was still tired so after making family breakfasts and lunches I went back to sleep for a while. Not the strange part yet. At my aerobic dance class I ran out of gas completely. I think I had completely depleted my carb stores and that was such a strange feeling. I am only on day four of the first two weeks but I have been very on program with no lapses. At the grocery store I got a Lara bar, which I don’t think I’m supposed to have but it only had cashews and dates and I thought I needed it. I also got a black bean soup and after getting home and having that I felt fine. I always take a nap in the afternoon and I am concerned about that. I sleep long enough at night to not need a nap every day. It was funny that I did not take a nap yesterday afternoon nor the day before and today almost made it through the afternoon but at 5ish I succumbed. I think today was the day the new eating regime hit me. My body was in shock. I do hope that I am over the initial hurdle now and that I will start to gain energy.
Anyone else have this reaction early in the program where your body seemed to run out of gas? I did look up what foods have the most carbs other than grains, which I am not allowed to have since I am on the Advanced program and got some good sources. I would have thought I was eating enough nuts to keep myself fueled but I don’t know.

Yes, I have had the same reaction, and still do from time to time. To me it seems to be caused by not eating often enough and/or not eating enough protein in my snack or meal. It does seem to get better as time goes on, so hang in there!
Hi Lisa, I had a low blood sugar reaction (I am not diabetic) one day and ate protein and vegetables (chipotle restaurant) to get myself back on track. Also, many people are low on energy at first. Your body is adjusting to a new plan and healing at the same time. This can be very tiring. I have been encouraging people to rest and take it easier if there is low energy. You notice exercise is not introduced until week 3.
If you feel tired, perhaps you could skip the exercise class and go for a short walk or do yoga. I am not a doctor or health care professional. Blessings, Margaret
Oh, I had not read that exercise is not introduced until week three. I am a regular exerciser and have been for years so this was I class I attend twice a week. I think my body is in withdrawal from sugar and the usual carbs I usually eat. Hopefully this lethargy passes pretty quickly because my motivation is flagging. Thank you for your replies. All the best to you.
