Dr. Hyman wants you to remove hummus for the 10 days because it is made from legumes. For some people legumes alter blood sugar regulation and interfere with immune system, provoking inflammation. And we have learned from the detox that inflammation causes…. weight gain! What to try instead? Tahini, olive tapenade, nut butter or any of the…[Read more]

Yes- that is okay but only in small amounts to add a little flavor. The goal is to remove all sources of sugar because even the tiniest “hit” to the brain can cause an impact on cravings and even alter your blood sugar regulation. Try as best you can for 10 days to avoid all sources of sugar – tomato sauce included :)

  • What have you included in your personal “health bubble”? Are you surrounded by triggers that inspire a healthy lifestyle or are there still some saboteurs hanging around (kitchen clutter, over-sized plates, processed foods, electronic devices, etc.)? Take a look around and do another round of “detoxing” your environment to strengthen your commitment.

    • I have a specific question for the staff nutritionist:
Can you include pistachio nuts, other frozen berries (ie raspberries, blackberries, strawberries) in shakes, soy “noodles” (the wet shitake noodles that are just soy and water), and tomato sauce, guacamole or salsa that contains only approved ingredients – no added sugars, etc. The only thing…[Read more]

  • Don’t feel like you need to carve out hours of your day to exercise. You can even break your exercise into small 10-15 minutes chunks spread throughout the day to get it in. This is especially great if you have a desk job. Every hour, get up and take a few laps around your office to get your steps in!

  • Answer this – What has stopped me in the past from getting in shape?

  • Good Morning and Welcome to DAY 4!!! WOW!!!! Today we are talking about why we must MOVE. Did you know that laughing is a form of exercise? Yes – laughing uses about 70 muscles in your body and helps reduce cortisol (the hormone that when in excess is responsible for weight gain, cravings, poor sleep and decreased immune function). Not that Dr.…[Read more]
