In reply to: JANINE posted an update in the group Weight & Obesity I am still awestruck by my weekend cholesterol reading, which was down 36 points IN 30 DAYS!. My number went down from 141 to 105 in one month (25%)! […] View

What a great testimony to determination and reward. Yes, the labs, weight, and for sure feeling better are a great reward! Thanks for sharing that with us.

See you in the kitchen! :-)

    • Love it! You know, for the life of me I can’t explain why I thought legumes were banned and the advanced plan. Except for two sentences I found suggesting that a person with diabesity responded better to diets without and better with strictly veggies and proteins, there was nothing to suggest that I couldn’t have had beans during that time. I…[Read more]

      • Hi Janine! How great of you to share all this info, how helpful for the rest of us, thanks! I thought your photo looked different! Wonderful.

The nutritionists told me that beans and other legumes, like peanuts, are not recommended on the Advanced Plan, though they go along with tofu that’s “not over processed” (I guess that means not made…[Read more]

        • Hi, Anna,
Missed hearing from you. I don’t know why I thought what I thought. I guess I thought hummus was ok because I was going to have it for my afternoon snacks, no matter what. I am glad you mentioned that legumes were NOT recommended. I was starting to think I had lost my mind along with the weight! Seriously, I remember when I made…[Read more]

          • Thanks for missing me, Janine! I realized it had been a while, so I checked in. I’ve just been sort of focused on doing this and still nursing recovery from GERD, which has gone from a 9 or 10 level of intensity after stopping the acid blockers to about a 3 or 4 and sometimes hardly at all.

I agree this is all complicated. I went back to…[Read more]

            • Thanks for the two recipes. They sound delicious, seriously. I love garlic and the combo with spinach sounds kind of like Saag Paneer, which I adore, and the curried dish sound like something great to have for lunch. Glad to know it freezes well. I am all about getting it done in big batches!

            • Hi Anna – nice to hear from you again! The fact that your GERD has gone down that much is wonderful. What a great incentive and fabulous side effect to this new way of eating!

            • Hi, Anna,
I have never experienced GERD, but if it is anything like the indigestion I felt when expecting my daughter, than you have all my sympathies! I am so happy for you that the symptoms are going away, slowly, but surely, and that you are medication free! It is another instance of medications treating the symptoms, but doing little for the…[Read more]

      • Please let me know if you figure out zucchini chips. When I slide and roast them they’re usually limp because they have so much water, I guess. I’d love to make them crisp!

    • Thanks Lynn – I am gonna try those too. I keep hearing about them but wasn’t sure how to make them. I love kale any way shape or form so a chip should be awesome!

That is great! I was considering going to the lab and paying out of pocket for a repeat A1C in a few weeks cause my doc isn’t for 4 months!

    • Hi, Lynn,
Thanks. I think having your tests done more often helps-at least it has for me. I can’t tell you how stunned and thrilled I was with those unexpected results! The cost of having the more detailed testing for one test is less than the deductible for the MD visit. Of course, if I wanted to have more than one test done, the MD would be…[Read more]

Well, here I am about 6-8 weeks after getting the book, first on my NOOK and then deciding I needed to have a copy in my hands to mark-up and notate items. • welcome, Lynn. you have indeed came to the right place, you will be pleasantly surprised but what will transpire during this journey you are going to undertake. After just a few weeks you will begin to feel a difference before you may see a difference on the scale or on a tape measurer. That was my experience. When I read the book I was struck…[Read more]

Wait until you have been on the plan for a few days to get your whole body inflammation decreased a bit. Then start very slowly. Perhaps the team advisors can be helpful there.
