Mair – You have so many questions specific to your personal ailments that none of us fellow travelers are qualified to answer. If you click on the healthy living store..there are different Ultra Wellness coaching programs where you can talk to Dr Hyman’s staff. ( one of which is a month to month plan for $19.95. ) It might be in your best…[Read more]

Autoimmune Disorders 1 month, 4 weeks agoMy husband was just diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. We are already both following the blood sugar solution diet (myself adhering more closely to the advanced plan though Bob has just started trying the gluten free). We both have diabetes type 2. Bob had quite a flare-up problem in his right knee which is devastating as he’d been walking 6…[Read more]

Hi Ruth ….talk to Margaret Foster I know that she has arthritis and what she eats really effects it causing flare ups if she eats certain things like gluten and cheese. I have aches and pains and stomach issues if I eat dairy, gluten and oats but have never been diagnosed with arthritis . But my Mom has rheumatoid arthritis and deformed hands…[Read more]

thanks Nicole. It is fortunate that Bob is off of dairy already, is very lactose intolerant, and is now trying a gluten free diet as well. Good to have the comment on sugar–seems to be a problem for us in so many different ways.

Autoimmune Disorders 2 months agoI have Crohns Disease and need to know how can I find a functional medical doctor in San Antonio? I saw that there is a Functional Medicine Training Center that offer doctors a ”Five Day Course” which I thought was a little too short. A doctor that will know about the tests I need and diet to go on their after. I am sick of being sick.
Thank you

Hi Greg,
When I needed to find a functional medicine doctor in upstate New York, I received help by calling Dr. Hyman’s staff in Lenox, Massachusetts and they explained how to access a list of functional medicine practitioners through this web site. You may want to call them too.

Acne 2 months, 1 week agoI am 49 years old. When I was 46, I started getting severe cystic acne. It was so bad that I did not want to leave the house. A dermatologist prescribed spironolactone, which decreases testosterone, which is assumed to be the cause of acne at my age. I’ve been on this drug for 3 years. If I skipped this pill for 2-3 days in a row, I would wake up…[Read more]

Missy congratulations. Your hormone imbalance is fixing itself with the assistance of a healthier way of eating. That is great to hear! Nicole

How exciting for you Missy!
I was given that drug to take for a heart condition. I had a reaction to it and broke out in a very bad rash. It is amazing how one body will clear up skin after spironolactone and another body will break out in a rash.
I have given up three prescriptions on this plan.
Blessings, Margaret -

Missy, that is very good to read. I am happy for you. As someone who at age 57 still has the occasional pimple, I know that they are no fun. Embarrassing to me in fact. Yea for you!

So many benefits from this program besides the weight loss! I do not have the acne so much but do break out in a rash to so many things. I have the most sensitive skin so I rarely try new products or supplements for that matter. Susie

Hi Germandoc
I just joined because I have those pestering 15 to 20 lbs to lose but I’m also very interested in autoimmune disorder correction via healthy food…
Hey there… When thinking autoimmune, also think chronic inflammation. You may have food sensitivities or allergies you are not aware of that are part of the problem.
