Diabesity / Diabetes 11 months ago For the advanced plan, I understand no alcohol or catfine. What about decaf coffee and tea? Also, have I possibly missed other acceptable drinks suggested?
Thanks again,
Mark

Correct, coffee and alcohol are not allowed on the Advanced Plan, nor the Basic Plan. No also to decaf coffee and the only tea allowed is green tea. I have had a V8 juice a couple of times. Mostly I just drink water. I think that is one of the reasons this plan has a two week ramp up period in which you slowly lower your consumption of coffee and other things you are now drinking and eating until you just stop. I was a coffee drinker/lover and I have not had any for 5 weeks. I had no problem giving up coffee and I am VERY surprised by that. I mostly drink water and I have a green tea every morning when I would be having coffee. I feel very powerful in giving that up. I don’t know if I will go back to drinking it or not when I finish this program. I somehow just think I will want to drink it with sweetener (Truvia) and coconut milk creamer added back and those I don’t plan to have. It may be green tea for me from now on. All the best.
You can also have herbal teas.
Water with lemon juice, or fresh ginger slices or strawberries work well. Coconut milk and almond milk are popular. Almond milk heated until frothing then adding green tea and thai spices is a good hot drink.
Good luck on the plan, Margaret
Hey thanks that sounds good. Sandy
Oh ya what are thai spices? Sandy
Hi Sandy, That was a typo, I meant Chai spices. Any combo of things like cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamon, ground coriander seed, clove, and allspice. You can buy chai tea bags and put them in hot almond milk to brew. Leave them for 5 minutes or more. Drinking this in the evening can help some people sleep. It is suggested with milk, ghee and sugar in ayurvedic medicine as a sleep aid. Stay well, Margaret
My favorite spices for tea! I haven’t tried them in green tea. Great Idea, Margaret!
