at what rate does the BG level comes down. I am in Week 5 and my fasting BG is 96 for past 5 days in row. my peaks after 2 hours of eating is 130’s.
when does it start coming down further.
i have lost 1.5 inch and 5 lb in last 5 weeks.
does anyone have a tracker so i can compare my results.

    • Hi murthysuresh, I don’t know if there’s a good answer to your question. Although, it’s a very good question. I’m not sure there will be dramatic drops for me. I started with a typical fasting of 140-150 and a typical pp average (I also check at the 2hr. after eating mark) 120-130. I’ve tracked daily both measurements and after prep wk. 2 immediately fell to around 110 – 112 fasting and post prandial around 105 – 107. It’s been pretty much constant with a few random flukes. I’ve had one reading at 89 one fasting as low as 95. My spikes have really smoothed out. I’ve sort of decided that I might see a slow decline in numbers as I continue to eat this way. However, I do not take any diabetes meds that force insulin production and push the pancreas. I really think that may be the difference. Sufonyleaureals are famous for bringing on lows because they stay in the sysytem for up to 12 hours. Combine that kind of med with the healthy eating (ultra low carb, frankly) and you would expect to have some pretty low numbers. I love that my numbers are so steady now. Like you, I want them to continue to drop a bit as we move on through the program. I guess the best answer is how high were they prior to starting this and what meds do you take to help control those numbers. I think your numbers sound good. A 2 hr. pp of 130 is better than Joslin’s scale of <160 or even the American Diabetes Asoc. <180. I personally feel they are both way too high. But to spike less than 140 2 hours after eating is a number people without diabetes would see. Hope this helps some. You are having some really good results. Wish my fasting would stabilize like yours seems to be doing. We're all different in how our diabetes responds so just hang in there. I think you're doing great. Barb Wk4 Dy3

      • i take metformin after lunch and dinner. wish i can get rid of it.

        • Actually metformin is one of the best drugs out there. I has all kinds of good benefits and does a good job of slowing down the liver when it comes to releasing glycogen (glucose). It is one of the oldest tried and true drugs available. I’m certainly not an expert I’ve just made it my mission to know about the meds offered and whether or not I want to take them. I don’t take much at face value and thank goodness we have the web to research things so easily. If that’s all you are taking you are doing good. Just hang in there. You’ve got good numbers and it would probably be a good idea to talk to your doctor about them if you are still concerned. Good luck, Barb Wk4 Dy3
