Recipes 2 hours, 59 minutes agoHello. I’m wondering if anyone has made the Moroccan Chicken with Cauliflower and Cashews (p. 142 BSS Cookbook). Is this supposed to be in the soup section? Or, was the 6 cups of low-sodium chicken broth a misprint?

Diabesity / Diabetes 7 hours, 8 minutes agoWell…my doctor appointment today went about as I figured it would. She said that my foot sensations were from progressive neuropathy and that there really wasn’t anything that could be done. That diabetes is a progressive disease and that I just may not be able to walk anymore as I lose sensation in my foot that tells me how hard to step down…[Read more]

Sorry to hear you got that report. Someone who works this program as faithfully as you deserves better. But I suppose it goes to show there’s only so much we can do to control what our bodies do. I think I’d also keep my own counsel on trying to lower the a1c. Stay well.

Welll I decided to do what any woman should do when getting news as devistating as this was to me. Time to go shopping ! I’ve already started my research and figured out that i had stopped taking one of my supplements Alpha – Lipoic Acid ( 200mg) about the time this all started because I had ran out and didn’t get to the health food store to buy…[Read more]

I also have heard from 2 different doctors of new studies showing that diabetics on medication whose A1C dip below 6.0 are at risk for heart attacks and other complications. I take it to mean that if you are able to get off meds, then you can work via diet and exercise to bring it down below 6.0. Of course it doesn’t help those of us who are on…[Read more]

Vimala replied 2 hours ago
I don’t have details but I do trust both of them. I will see one in a few weeks, will try to remember to ask him. Meanwhile try a search on the internet.
My sister’s internist also told her the same thing a couple of years ago. So I don’t think this is news. I will ask her when she’s back from her travels.

Diabesity / Diabetes 1 day, 9 hours agoHappy Tuesday everyone – I have been having balance and dizziness issues for the past several days and feeling like I am going to fall over with a feeling that my left foot has fallen asleep when I take my walks. This has been happening at the one mile mark or so and is very scary. Today it happened on the first block so I turned around and came…[Read more]

I feel very bad that you are having such problems, Nicole. The timing of your physician appointment could not be better; I hope she gives you good news. Can you imagine how dire your condition would be without all of the work you have done in the last year?
Hang in there, Shelley -

Recipes 4 days, 4 hours agoHi, I wanted to share a treat that I found in rural northern California. They are okra chips. Whole okra, tops and tips, dried. They may be vacuum fried but with no oiliness I think they are baked or dehydrated. This okra is very good and a great travel food. Unfortunately there was no ingredient list. So it was a repackaged item that the company…[Read more]

Good for you Janine, You are reminding us all that exercise is an energy booster. After a week of so of steady exercise as simple as a daily walk, most people feel more energized.

Hi Nicole. I enjoyed your post from Wednesday. On Tuesday I struggled – and lost the battle – to keep my daily amount of nuts in check. Recipes 1 week, 1 day agoI bought 100% cocoa chocolate instead of 70% . Are there any ideas for a recipe without sugar.
-
Nicole replied 1 week, 1 day ago
I use it in my morning ultra shake.
-
Margaret Foster replied 6 days, 21 hours ago
You can melt some of it in a a glass of hot almond milk and add a lot of spices, cinnamon, allspice, ginger, turmeric, cardamon, etc. Put in a tablespoon or more spices.

It is actually bakers chocolate. I’m thinking of dunking bananas in and freezing it. Wonder if it will work well.

Yes that will work, but you should thin the chocolate a bit.
