In reply to: hearttash posted an update in the group Diabesity / Diabetes I’m on my seventh week. I sort of feel myself slipping, getting some cravings, trying to rationalize a potential bad food choice. I’m also struggling […] ViewThat is why this forum is so great for giving each other support. It is good to hear that others are struggling with cravings and urges to ”cheat”. I wish that I could find a live support group in the Seattle area because I think it is soooo important to have that suport. I thank all of you for your support on this journey. Keep it up Tasha!!!

In reply to: rolando posted an update in the group Diabesity / Diabetes why is it that the book recommends not to have natural substitutes for sugar like stevia? ViewRolando, I am right there with oyou about my morning coffee except that I want my cream! So I tried switching to hot tea that has fruit in it-like cranberries, pear, or orange flavor. And guess what? I am not missing my coffee and the natural sweetness of the fruits is enough and having that hot drink in the morning is great too. Side benefit…[Read more]

In reply to: nancy-teeples posted an update in the group Diabesity / Diabetes I am on WK1 D1! I am so excited to have found this book. I had actually elimated most sugar from my diet about 3-4 weeks ago and have lost 15 lbs. […] ViewCal, thanks for the support and good information. I am very excited about this and really do think that SUGAR is an evil additive to our food system. I am amazed that sugar and corn syrup are in so many foods that you don’t even think of as sweet (like coffeemate creamer!) I will check out those videos on you tube today.

Recipes 11 months, 2 weeks agoSo yesterday I was at work and my husband had to do the prep of our meal for the evening. (this is our first week) I called him to see how it was going and he says “this is too hard-there is too much prepwork. I had to cook some of the veggies that were for our salad. I don’t think this is going to work for us.” I told him to just give it a…[Read more]

The problem of having a skinny husband is that he wants to always eat bread, cookies, etc. I’ve tried to get him to stop that and for offering them to me, I guess he feels bad eating them so he’s going to try to get me to eat them too ! Sabatoge! I can only be…[Read more]

Jaime-make up a survival kit so that you have good healthy choices to keep from being tempted. Some nuts, carrots or celery, hummus, can of salmon, chickpeas, protein bar and water. Good luck Jaime, we are starting this journey together

Way to go, Nancy! Success on the BSS requires pre-planning and preparation. It sounds like you and your husband have done that. I, also, think it’s great that you two are doing this together. This plan works. You will do great! I’ve been on it for 7 /12 months.

I think Dr. Hyman should sponsor a retreat for us.
I’'d be interested in the Skype idea, also not sure I’d want to organize it though. I believe you have to pay for Group Skype video. On Google+ there is a group video option, I think, but anyone who wanted to participate would have to get a Google+ acct.
