Good morning everyone. Over the pas four days with Diabetic nurse practicianers continued consult I have reduced my 2x a day insulin(novolin) from 20 units to 12 unis. I have been going too low every night all week and having to eat fruit in the middle of the night to bring my blood sugar back up so there has not been any accompanying weight loss during this adventure. but In very excited if I can get my insulin requirement reduced significantly it will be easier to loss the 55 lbs that I feel are necessary to be really healthy. since January I have kept my carb load way down at meal times making it unnecessary to take insulin at meals. Now I am dramatically reducing my need for blood pressure medicine. I’m definitely doing the happy dance inspire of needing to recover each morning from going too low over night. It is difficult to not just eat a bunch of carbs right before bed to keep from going too low overnight. but I really don’t think that would help matters. this roller coaster ride will end as my bOdy adjusts. In the past my knee jerk reaction would be to use being low as an excuse to have orange juice, chocolate or ice cream or what every treat I could find to bring me up as quickly as possibile. Of course I would overshot my goal and end up going way to high and then having trouble getting things back down below 140. So I quit doing that and now just ingest a piece of fresh or dried fruit and measure agin to spmake sure I am out of the danger zone.

    • Thanks for the input. I eat plenty of vegetables and avocados and pretty much stay stay away from the simple carbs ie fruit and fruit juice unless I need something to help me bring my blood sugar up quickly. Took my insulin down another two unis this morning. now at 8 units instead of 20 units Novolin 2xaday. I’m so very happy with how things are progressing.
