In reply to: Maxine Becker posted an update in the group Anti Aging I practice Qigong , a moving meditation , daily but it had become increasingly clear that it wasn’t enough – I even teach Qigong for weight loss! I was eating […] ViewHi Maxine, I study qigong/taijiquan as well. Welcome to the forum! I found that just doing a lot of taiji/qigong was not enough to keep the pounds away — that I needed something on the food-control side too. That said, I still love the way taiji and qigong make me feel. But Fitness is a two-variable equation — you need to control both exercise…[Read more]

I’m so thrilled for him, really. I […] ViewNina — my wife and I are the other way around — she loses pounds and I have been stuck for about 8 weeks. For me, it has been three things: 1) I’ve been cheating a little bit here and here, usually once or twice a week, something small — on the weeks I don’t cheat, I have better results. 2) I had knee surgery and haven’t been exercising; I…[Read more]

It’s a little frustrating, the lack of weight loss, but I am also recovering from surgery and regaining muscle that atrophied due to the immobilization of my leg, so I’m trying to keep my spirits up. I will have to measure my waist again — as long as I’m losing inches, I’m going the right direction, that’s my theory.

Thanks. I think having your tests done more often helps-at least it has for me. I can’t tell you how stunned and thrilled I was with those unexpected results! Love it! You know, for the life of me I can’t explain why I thought legumes were banned and the advanced plan. Thanks for missing me, Janine! I realized it had been a while, so I checked in. I’ve just been sort of focused on doing this and still nursing recovery from GERD, which has gone from a 9 or 10 level of intensity after stopping the acid blockers to about a 3 or 4 and sometimes hardly at all.

Thanks for the two recipes. They sound delicious, seriously. I love garlic and the combo with spinach sounds kind of like Saag Paneer, which I adore, and the curried dish sound like something great to have for lunch. Glad to know it freezes well. I am all about getting it done in big batches!

The Diabesity Quiz, which is the one I mentioned above (pages 176-79 of the book), actually tells you whether you should be on the basic or advanced plan. In reply to: Susan posted an update in the group Supplements Can I use the Pur Lean shakes on the advanced plan? ViewBe careful with anything that has “artificial sweeteners” — even if they’re “all natural”, like Stevia. Keep intake limited, or, better, nil. I agree you need to be very careful when adding back any sweetener, even stevia, into your daily food intake.
