Diet & Nutrition 1 year agojrhs asked me to post about how the program changed my life. I posted this under Weight and Obesity, but I will re-post it here: I have been a patient of Mark Hyman’s for four years. Initially, I came to him to lose weight, but I had just been through breast cancer and chemo. In addition, I was the heaviest I had ever been, and had a clotting…[Read more]

In reply to: bookcat posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition i just stopped drinking diet soda. I’ve found I lost my taste for it after 11 weeks on the Ultrametabolism plan. Tomorrow I start the BSS diet with the hope […] ViewThose are all good ideas. Planning is KEY with success in this life shift. (Notice I didn’t say diet!). I used to crave potato chips at night, now I have celery and peanut butter or carrots and hummus. I take one day/week and try and plan, make a few meals and do veggies. If I don’t, I make bad choices. We need to put ourselves FIRST, and…[Read more]

Great post. You are so right about putting ourselves first, rather than last, which is usually the case. Wow, a year on program. Congrats! I like what you said about feeling “normal”. I felt that way in the first week or so (I am in the middle of week 3). Being able to watch tv and not want to constantly snack, seeing a food…[Read more]

In reply to: barb posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition Is feta cheese (a goat cheese) okay to sprinkle on salads? ViewAnd you both will find that once the six weeks are over, you look at things differently! I thought the night of my six weeks I would “celebrate” and eat something I hadn’t been able to have. Guess what? I was looking at a table of food (I was at a party) and I went UCK. Most of it was full of dairy or sugar and didn’t even appeal to me…[Read more]

You are so right. During the lunch hour at work, I look at the massive quantities of unhealthy foods some coworkers eat and I can’t imagine eating that way. I am so surprised that I don’t miss sweets, but on day 17, I can honestly say that I seriously miss my coffee. I don’t think that will go away.

I’m still in the preparation phase (waiting for some friends to read the book, so we can start all at once), and Coffee is what I miss most too. I’ll find myself standing next to the coffee pot at work almost by instinct.

Hi nik… Welcome and glad you’re jumping in with both feet. Yes, the 2nd week of prep was the hardest on me with the coffee. I’m in program wk1 dy4 and I actually think I’m getting better. Someone here recommended green tea so every other day now I have a cup. I know it’s fudging but it has half the caffeine and helped me scale back more…[Read more]

LOL! I have to tell you that I learned a good lesson this morning. I used to have my coffee maker ready to turn on the moment I woke (I didn’t want to set a timer on it), and it was so easy to pour a hot cup of coffee almost immediately. Last night, I forgot to have my pan ready to boil water and my french press cleaned and ready for tea…[Read more]

Awww! I woke up with a stiff back for the first time in a very long time. I baby my back but yesterday I pulled weeds. It rained the night before and it was a perfect time. It was shocking that I even had the energy to do it. Now I wish I had been a bit less energetic! Yes, you need a quick source of hot water. I have a keurig single cup…[Read more]

No problem about the Okkie thing, as I am not a football fan. I am a huge soccer fan! World Cup 2014-only two years away!!! I had a request from someone to be friends, but I am not sure myself how this works. I would love to do that. There must be a button somewhere that we have to push. And one of the best things is that foods taste so much better, now. It is kind of cool to be in on the ground floor, so to speak, with this dietary plan. Hopefully, our success will help others come around to this way of eating. So much better than spending thousands of dollars every year on medications!

Good morning – I’m hoping to cook some things that will be on stand-by so I can get better organized. I saw where you mentioned a Vegetable Chili somewhre and I can’t find it. If you have a recipe I would love it and if you don’t, maybe just some suggestions on what you used. Thanks, Barb Wk1 Dy6

Morning, Barb,
BTW, how did you do the friend’s request thing? I still haven’t figures it out. For the vegetagble “chili” recipe, I will try to recall the recipe from memory:1/2 head small cabbage, chopped
8 oz onion, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 cup zuchinni, chopped
1 cup yellow squash, chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
2 14oz…[Read more]-

Thanks, I was hoping for something I could freeze in separate portions. This will be great. I’m probably not as spicy with my food but it does really sound good.

Hi Eileen, thanks for sharing your story. That must have been very difficult. There are some things in life we are so thankful for it’s hard to find words. I was an ”alpha” tester for Dr. Hyman’s Blood Sugar Solution last spring and lost 60 lbs. I am still on it, and am going back to do another 6 weeks on the original BSS diet starting today, as vacations and carbs have made me plateau for a month. This plan really, really works.
