Diet & Nutrition 11 months, 2 weeks agoHi -Well I thought that I was ready to begin but it seems that I satill have some fine-tuning to do in order to get on track, and stay there. Looking through Chapter 19 I saw something called boxed tomatoes. Does anyone know what that is. I’ve never seen such an item. Canned tomatoes but not boxed. I’m going to be on the advanced plan…[Read more]

In reply to: Chyan Torelli posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition can anyone tell me about agave nectar? is it allowed? There are claims that it doesn’t raise your blood sugar levels like other sweetners, including […] ViewMy reading of the book says that all sugars and artificial sweeteners are verboten.

Perhaps scallops for their texture or even shrimp. Who knows…I might get a bit creative

Of course that bvreakfast will end very soon. It might be good in smoothies but that’s not something that |I ordinarily prepare. Change is good though.

Recipes 12 months agoI’m new and will be starting Week 1 in two or three days. Soy, all soy products and I don’t get along at all. It seems that so many recipes use some form of soy. Is there anything at all that I can use as a substitute for soy/tofu, etc.?

Welcome Diane. I think you’ll do fine without soy. I can take it or leave it and so far I haven’t eaten any soy products. I am sticking to the chicken, fish and once a week beef proteins so far. There are so many ways to prepare them and so many varieties of fish I’m happy with those choices. I’m glad the serving size is only 3 oz.…[Read more]

almond milk is very easy to make. Soak some almonds overnight. Throw that water away in the morning. Put the almonds in the blender. Add water and blend. You will have to experiment with quanities. You can add a bit of vanilla if you like. Then drink the way it is or strain through a cheese cloth if you do not want the pulp. I then dry the…[Read more]

In reply to: hearttash posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition I can’t remember again–why do we have to eat raw almonds and cashews (and any nuts) vs roasted? ViewRaw nuts have all of their enzymes intact. Roasting destroys the enzymes. Thjose enzymes are beneficial to our health. Soaking nuts for several hours in cool water will also make nuts more digestible.

I have to get set up as far as the journal, etc. is concerned. I put in my measurements and look forward to improvements. I’ve read a number of different books on programmes that reverse diabetes but this is the one that seems to be suited for me. So, I’ll see what happens.

Diabesity / Diabetes 1 year agoHello – I was diagnosed with T-2 February 28, 2007. I’ve always believed that diet and exercise were the only way to treat the problem. My ophthalmologist asked me to take Metformin for my eyes. So – 500 mg twice a day. I discovered Dr. Hyman’s book while browsing in Chapters. I’m half way through the book and think that this is what I’m…[Read more]

I’ll tell you this – In just three days of following this, I’m feelin’ better and excited. Nice long weekend to…[Read more]
