It is time to set my goals.
Main goals:
1. Defeat my sugar addiction
2. Lose 45 pounds
Secondary and more general goals:
1. Find balance physically
2. After the 7 weeks are up to reassess my life. I got to this point over a long time. Now that I have found balance, how do I stay balanced?

Get Dr. Hyman’s book if you don’t already have it. You can get it used on Amazon.com for a great price. When you feel weak, read parts of the book that address your issues. Secondly, keep posting. Sharing and asking for support from the community will help. We all want you to succeed. Thirdly, accept that life will not be as easy as before when you could just stop by a restaurant or fast food joint to fill up on bad carbs and hormone-treated animal products. If you’re like me, that’s the hardest part. I’ve got to learn to prepare my own meals, and that is difficult. I usually eat on the run, but those days are over. Dr. Hyman has some good things to say about being thankful for good food and being conscious of your eating. And lastly, get out there and move! Exercise makes you feel better, gives you something to do rather than obsess over food, and actually keeps hunger pains at bay. Hang in there.
Thank you for the encouragement. It really helps. I have the book and most of the concepts in the book we have been living for years. Exercise (both weights and cardio) on an almost daily basis….check! Buying locally….check! Organic where we can….check! Grow much of our own food….check! DH is sensitive to wheat, so that has been an almost non-entity in our diet for a while. We don’t eat out much, because what we made as home was usually better and we never ate fast food. My problem is the darned sugar. I have known all about how bad it is for you for a while (read ’Wheat Belly”), but I was just never able to stop. I wasn’t motivated enough to stop. I always cheated. I am determined now. I know if I don’t stop now, I WILL end up with diabetes and possibly worse. The time is now!!
I find if I eat enough vegetables and protein I don’t crave sweets. The vegetable part if critical for me.
