Diet & Nutrition 1 year, 1 month ago I came up with another shake this morning, it was not too bad. I used almond milk, raspberries, ginger, tiny piece of lemond rhind, mint extract, ice, a piece of cucumber, and walnuts. It was pretty good.. enjoyed it.. I have a question though.. My hubby found some raw coconut flour and he was wondering if we could use it?? He had an idea that we could mix it with the almond flour to make some blueberry muffins or pancakes?? Any one know if it is allowed. I nothing added just 100% raw coconut..

I think it would be OK, but you might want to ask the nutritional coaches about that. Arrowroot, garbanzo and teff flour (in small amounts are OK.
ok thanks, but those flours are only allowed after the 6 weeks right? We are on the advanced plan and then we plan on going on the basic plan after the 6 weeks. Don’t think we can do those now… Was hoping to be able to use the coconut flour. Maybe after like the 4th week..
You are correct, those flours are for the after the 6 week plan. If you stay on the basic, which is a good idea you will need to wait further. Margaret
Coconut flour is very difficult to work with. It’s very healthy though and has no gluten and lots of fiber. However, it’s seldom used alone. I think it’s recommended that you use up to 20% of your flour requirements in coconut flour. So you would have to make up the difference in other flours. It also requires extra liquid. Years ago I experimented with it and no one would eat what I made. Imagine my surprise!
There are still jokes and cute little references to my coconut balls.
oh yeah.. I know how temperamental it can be even mixed with other flours. It falls apart so easily and it is mushy, but at this point anything tastes good while you are on the advanced plan! So I was hoping it was allowed. Thanks for sharing.
Almond flour and coconut flour are excellent choices for the transition and maintenance part of this program. However for these 6 weeks please choose all whole foods, nothing processed for the best results. This includes all flours, even gluten free!
So we can not coat chicken in almond flour for the first 6 weeks? I just made a batch.
Yes, you may coat your chicken in almond flour. The main goal is you will remain as flour free for 6 weeks as possible with exception of this homemade almond meal ever so often. Any recipes Dr. Hyman has provided for you are ”safe.” If you make the almond flour yourself, this is best so you know exactly what it is-no additives, sweeteners etc.
thank you.
