Gluten 8 months, 2 weeks agoI’m totally pissed after seeing a comercial by DOW saying that they created a chemical from a plant to make gluten free bread taste better. They call it WELLENCE™ GLUTEN FREE. Is it truly safe? Why do they have to mess with our foods and we will end up paying the consequences?!?! Plz discuss.

In reply to: Linda Kent posted an update in the group Diet & Nutrition Does anyone have a recommendation for a great truly sugar-free, gluten-free cereal and oatmeal? ViewIf there is a high chance of cross contamination from wheat in the growing, shipping and milling process with steel cut oats. Why is it not true with all grains? Millet? Quinoa? What about Barley?

I cannot answer that, but there possibly is. Millet and quinoa are usually sold as the whole grain (not cut or hydrated, rolled and dehydrated) so perhaps that is the difference, if there is any. I actually got the oat information from oat selling companies. So they would not have had information about other culinary grains. I have no information…[Read more]

Hi, You have to read the BSS book and take the quizzes there or on this site to decide if you will follow the advanced plan or the basic plan. The advanced plan does not allow any culinary grains or beans, except a small amount of hummus. On page 199-200 of the book it discusses food. Also there are pdf downloads on this site under ‘my…[Read more]

Most oat strains do not have any gluten. There is a high chance if cross contamination from wheat in the growing, shipping and milling process. You would have to do research to find steel cut oats that are positively gluten free. McCann’s does not promise gluten free. Are you following the BSS plan or just trying to take gluten completely out of…[Read more]

For the people following the BSS plans no sugars, sweeteners are allowed. The point is to reset your system to a healthier level of operation, and along the way you get to realize how these inflammatory foods are effecting you.
Since most people seem to be addicted to sweeteners the only way to break that is to go cold turkey and have none of…[Read more] -

Agave is not natural and has more concentrated fructose than high-fructose corn syrup. It is made the same way high-fructose corn syrup is made. Stay away from it even after you are done with BSS. Below is a link to an article about it if you want to know more.

Hi,
Remember that Dow Chemical is in business to make money NOT to be concerned about people’s health. It is very disappointing to realize that corporations do not care about people, health or society except as consumers.
The healthy way of eating, in this country only benefits smaller farms and more local businesses.
You do not see large…[Read more]
Brown rice flour bakery can be pretty good with the right recipe, but what I’ve really been enjoying lately is Almond Meal! Bob’s Red Mill makes a good one, and they seem to take gluten-free seriously.
Hi Barbara, I agree with you. Almond meal is my choice for flour. I make those blueberry muffins with almond meal and they fill my desire for baked goods.
Yes, I do find a chemical company making food, ironic at best and horrific at worst.
So many people need to be off all flour products that I find rice flour and potato flour iffy to recommend. I…[Read more]
All chemical corporations are the same, Monsanto the worst for GMOs. AND there are companies who are stealing the best product companies out from under us by offering a lucrative deal that no one can resist! It’s happening to cereal brands, vitamin brands, bread, milk, baby products and so on. What a shame they are out to destroy us! Well, I…[Read more]
Dow Chemical, yes, aren’t they the ones who make Agent Orange, that stuff they dropped all over Vietnam to exfoliate the trees?
How horrifying that they are in the ”food” business.
Indeed, horrifying, Barbara! I’ve done a lot of research on these big manufacturers of poisons and it galls me they are always up to swaying our government to pass something-or-other because it’s cheaper to make and larger profits can be had. Our govt. has been hoodwinked long enough and needs to wake up to the reality of the Poisoning of…[Read more]

Please don’t get off your soapbox. It needs to be heard, and we are the ones to say it.
I feel like it’s my responsibility and privilege to share this info. After all, it’s probably added years to my life already, and more enjoyable ones!
I do find myself getting a little too…[Read more]
