Gastrointestinal Disorders 5 months, 1 week agoI need help with this situation. When I used to live in Denver I could eat vegetable and have regular BMs. I could eat greens and beans and they would to through me like water through a duck. Now that I have moved to Houston I am continuously constipated. I can eat green vegetables, fruit and legumes and yet I have to drink Citrate of Magnesium…[Read more]

First, I’ve had IBS for many, many years. Took the traditional route via my gastro MD, which controlled the symptoms. I was down to 1/2 Immodium daily, which kept me pretty much ok unless I ate something wrong. Last year I got the new strain of CDiff, which I have had for a year now. Flagil, the std. med. for it, did nothing. Had 3 courses…[Read more]

Gastrointestinal Disorders 7 months agoHi There! I was wondering how everybody is doing on PGX? Do you recommend the powder or the pills? Is this available at a GNC store? I have come to realize that I have a gluten sensitivity so right now my digestive system needs to mend. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Gastrointestinal Disorders 7 months agoHi There! I have eliminated sugar, dairy and gluten and felt incredible the first 2 days. I have realized that eating gluten has been making me progressively sicker the last 2-3 years. It is now my third day and I almost feel a little flu-like. Has anybody else experienced symptoms and could you tell me what to drink and eat during this time?…[Read more]

Gastrointestinal Disorders 7 months agoBSS program cured my Ulcerative Colitis. I’ve suffered from this for 19 years. Doctors have all told me that there is no cure. Well, I proved that there is a cure. Don’t eat bread, pasta, sugar, potatoes, dairy, etc. Instead eat lots of Kale, cabbage, broccoli, etc. It’s that easy. Eat early and eat often. Remember, you need to put…[Read more]

Congrats! That is awesome! Its been a great 2 days for me eliminating sugar, dairy and gluten even though today I think my body is detoxing. I have realized that gluten has been making me feel lousy the last 2-3 years. I feel confident that down the road I will be able to share my success story. I have about 45 pounds to lose. Thank you for…[Read more]

Gastrointestinal Disorders 9 months, 3 weeks agoI have been ingesting aloe (mostly in the gel form in smoothies) for a month or so now, and it seems to be improving my entire gastro situation, although somewhat fitfully. Anyone else have experience with this?

Kathy replied 8 months, 4 weeks ago
Yes, I have taken aloe in the past and it helped me as much, or more than any other remedies I took which was many! Also DGL is one of the best natural remedies. It is a form of licorace and recommened by many alternative practitioners. It is especially good for ulcers.

Gastrointestinal Disorders 10 months agoHi, just found Dr. Hyman’s website and joined this group! I’ve recently been tested for gluten allergy and have had a colonoscopy because I have suffered from constant diarrhea for the past 2-3 years. They found no allergy or physical reason for it. My GI doctor just suggested that I take an over the counter anti-diarrheal medication daily.…[Read more]

Hi Michelle, I have had the same issues with my gut for years. I have found that being on the BSS. or (anyone of Dr. Hyman’s food programs) will help you. I have found that eliminating dairy and gluten very helpful for my digestion. I have also added a high quality probiotic (Ultimate Flora for critical colon) cheapest on amazon. Also started…[Read more]

Gastrointestinal Disorders 10 months, 3 weeks agoI almost dies from another stomach attack again last night. Food just does not agree with me at all. I hadn’t had one of these attacks since January or February though which is nice, but STILL I would rather NEVER have them. Although I guess if I MUST have them, I would rather them be spaced out 6 months at a time.

Hello Gigi.. do you have other digestion problems also? I had many digestive problems, and also had episodes of terrible stomach pain like you described. Finally discovered that I had gall stones.. what I least expected. Just had my GB taken out last week, and so far no digestive problems.

Elaine Sweeney replied 7 months, 2 weeks ago
Hi Kathy had my GB out about 10yrs ago. Just started taking bile salts for better digestion. I’m not processing my food well. The way I understand it when you lose your GB the bile salts are there but not functioning as though they were processing through your GB. So that’s why the supps. of bile salts to better the process of digestion. It…[Read more]

Gastrointestinal Disorders 1 year agoI am a IBS patient who goes through bouts of not being able to eat/drink anything and then when flareup is over, am limited to plain grilled chicken and green beans. Any ideas on diets – plain, simple but with nutrition?

Elaine Sweeney replied 11 months, 4 weeks ago
I recommend BSS. I can’t eat raw. So my protein is cooked, veggies steamed or I eat baby veggies. Half cup of berries with my protein shake in the am. If I’m not careful I too get IBS.

Hi Regina,
Give it time. It could be a change in water. Or another stress could be activated. If you have the protein drink in the morning, be sure to add flax seed. It has to be ground so add it before you blend the other ingredients and that will chop them up. Start easy, 1 tablespoon or less, and add more if that amount does not work. Flax seed…[Read more]
