I read some of the research on telomeres and telomerase. Its promising work, but man…have you seen the price for tel0merase???? Yikes. Susan Sommers has a new book out, ”Bombshell”, that talks about this and other interesting health news.

    • Don’t take telomerase. It is a major culprit in most cancers. Aging likely has several major components, not just the ”cell division” limit (aka ”Telemere aging hypothesis”). People also run out of stem cells (this is why the young heal so much faster), and the mitochondria start breaking down, and we lose insulin sensitivity, and a few other things.

I am no scientist — just very interested in it — I think it’s a solve-able problem, if governments would actually invest their money in it. We’re not that far away from understanding it and knowing how to stop it (maybe 50-150 years, at the current rate, quicker if it was funded. Sadly, if it takes 75 years I’ll likely be dead by then). Just my opinion, though. What do I know?

      • *Telomere (no spell check, sorry)

      • Super! I totally agree. Don’t take any unnecessary drugs. Your body doesn’t like any drug. There was a movie I watched once, wish I could remember the name; about a little boy who had cancer and against all Dr’s recommendation he took him out of the city and way out into the country to a small little cabin. They all said he would die. Dad only gave him healthy foods and fresh air. He was very, very strict on this. His son seemed to get worse, however knowing what I know, I knew while I was watching that his son was detoxing and in the most violent way. Well in the end, he recovered completely. Amazing story!

        • Well, it wasn’t my plan to take telomerase, even if I could afford it. Yet, it is interesting that this biochemical/mechanical function has been discovered in relation to the ageing process.
